No OpenGL acceleration after Black and white install?

This is the error I get, when I start Black and White, after buying the Platinum Pack, and upgrading the software, and installing the latest ATI drivers from the ATI website...

OpenGL reported that no 3D acceleration was available. Please Make sure that you have the latest versions of OpenGL, and that the appropriate drivers for your card.

Something wrong with this picture?

No open GL acceleration after installing the ATI drivers?

Someone have a clue where to go with this...

P.S.  Yes I posted this in another part of the forum, but I would hope gamers have seen this more than techs, please help here, I can't figure out the issue, all other games work fine.

If you installed the Oct 2002 updater after 10.2.3, you've effectively downgraded your drivers and hosed OpenGL.

Unfortunately this is caused by QuickTime 6.1 - however we've released a 1.1.8 patch to address this. You can get the patch (which will update both B&W and Creature Isle) at http://www.feral.co.uk/.

Re: No OpenGL acceleration after Black and white install?

Quicktime 6.1 broke a few games, including pretty much all of Feral's recent games (F1, Black and White, and a few others). The resultant bug is a black screen at startup.  They're working on patches for their apps.

One note with the Mac OS X updates, if the update comes after an ATI retail driver release, don't use the ATI drivers.  If the drivers are released after the OS X update, read the readme before installing for compatibility issues.  ATI released a January driver set for the Radeon 9000 which includes drivers for all their cards, but OS X 10.2.3 still contains newer drivers.

If you're going to do a clean install and would like the extras which ATI retail drivers install (such as the ATI Displays app), then install the latest ATI drivers before installing the latest Mac OS X update.  Ex.  Install 10.2, install the latest ATI drivers, then update to the latest Mac OS.

D'oh, I took so long typing, Dair beat me too it!
