Re: Web Page
I think that the links to the patches is a ver good (and very important) idea. We might even compile one download for all patches used on the server with mac-oriented installation instructions and so forth.

Re: Web Page
It would be cool to set up a challenge system so that one member can challenge another, then the winner recives points, etc. I know other gaming groups that use such a system. It wouldn't be too hard to do in PERL.

Re: Web Page
If possible, we should use PHP instead of perl. It's much better.

Re: Web Page
If you do a search here for Perl and PHP under the Web Design forums, you'll notice that PHP is the way to go, and that Perl is obsolete. PHP is easier, faster, and more powerful. If anyone ever needs PHP help, the web forum is the way to go.

Re: Web Page
I'm hosting some JK2 stuff on a website I have here, if we need some pics for the site. If you have some pics you want me to put up, just send me a PM and I'll get you to email them to me. There's not much right now, but I will be adding stuff like more pictures and movies too.

Re: Web Page
my question to you is how did you get the tmbj map there? I can't get it by starting a server...

Re: Web Page
That was when I edited the scriptfile (in the other thread), then took a pic to prove it works. Unfortunately, because of that change, my version changed from the server's version, so I had to take it out. We'll have to wait for the scriptfile to be added officially, and then all download that map.

Re: Web Page
I updated my little photo gallery site. The site URL has changed, but the old link should redirect to the new one. The new host supports PHP, so I made the image gallery dynamic, and I made a video gallery too, with some help. In the video gallery you may see some familiar faces.
Here is the new link.

/cg_dismember 2
You only have to do it once. It stays on permanetly.
------------
I've done a little PHP. Its the best way really. Perl isn't dead, just isnt the right tool for the job. Unfortantely, In order for me to check PHP, I need a server with PHP support, since its a server-side scripting language (Everything is done on server, and sent to client. What is sent to you is generated HTML.)
But its nice.
2 Thumbs up from me!

Hey, would it be okay with everyone if I worked on some ideas for the webpage? If so I can start on some ideas I've had.

Re: Web Page
I'd say go ahead, but I'm one person. i'm tired of the (very temporary) sign there. If we're going to have this site, we should either expand on it and make it the permanent page, or else just remove the (very temporary) sign. Its been just a little bit longer than very temporary

Well, sure it'd be OK. Have at it. I believe benwards and someone else were working on something/hashed out some ideas in another thread, as well.

Re: Web Page
i have a somewhat working site that needs an FTP link to the skin pack and a way to link to the tracker image.
the site is here.
I need to find some ad-free webspace, and, like I said, a way to link to the tracker. VD, if you can do better than this, that would be great! I don't have much skill as a website designer, as you can no doubt see.

Re: Web Page
That's a nice site benwards, you have some great ideas there I never even thought of, such as a screenshot gallery!
Link
Here is my first rendition of the site (Site 1), it's hosted on my computer so it might not be online (it usually will be though). I based it upon the current site and the clan macaddict site.
I wrote the site in XHTML and CSS, and it should be WC3 compliant (haven't checked though). If you have any suggestions, feel free to notify me here or use the contact page on the link above! We all should have a say into the site if possible. The site is still a work in progress, and I would like to have the first site good enough to publish before I start on another idea.
Although I am an advocate of PHP, I did not use any PHP in this version because I wanted to start with something simple. Using PHP would make updating the website easier, by using things like includes (For example, I want to change the sidebar across the entire site, I only need to edit one file, sidebar.html, and PHP will include the changes across the site). When I create Site 2 will be similar, but made with PHP. I'll make it so you guys can also see the source of the PHP files if you want.
Another question - could someone be so nice as to please send me the proper code for the tracker? The one from the temp site doesn't work! It says "Invalid Tracker". Thanks!

Re: Web Page
Progress Update:
I moved the site over to PHP, and you guys can check it out here.
It's site 2, and is still hosted on my computer, so it might not always be available. Be sure to check out the about page, I wrote some stuff about how it works. As always, feel free to send me messages/suggestions/compliments/complaints/flames, either using the form on the site, or the forum here!

Re: Web Page
Looking good, VD. Couple of notes though.
First, Mishura should have the "Knight" tag after his name on the memberlist. He too has the ability to smack down lamers and the like.
Second, this is just an issue with me, but the white (or almost white) on black combination is kinda harsh or painful. I know it sounds like I'm trying to pimp my own design (I'm not, really), but red on black seems easier to read. It would be nice to have another font too, because Times (?) is kinda boring. Just an idea.
Other than that, everything looks pretty cool, assuming you get the tracker worked out. Try PMing CaptKevMan for further info on that front. He set up the old site, and probably knows how to work the tracker.
