Re: What ride j00 guys drive?

I took the old civic out in the cornfield tonight, got it up to about 50, and the stubble ripped the marker lights out, and then I ran them over.  The flywheel also sucked a bunch of stubble up into the clutch housing, and stalled the engine out.

Damn imports  roll   Can't even handle a cornfield.  wink

Its a Mercedes-Benz 190E 16v Euro.  It was imported from germany.  Its sweet up

I've always liked Mercedes, BMW drivers are always so arrogant.

TopGear on last nights programme (its now half midnight here) predicted the Mercedes 190E Cosworth as a future classic. It was developed for rallying, but would have been crap against Audi's newly introduced Quattro.

They also had the worlds most indestructable car, the Toyota Hilux. Read here. And when they say they parked it in the sea, it ended up on its side after the 40' tide had gone out again, so they rolled it the right way up, started it and drove off. When they say they set fire to it, they waited for it to cool down, started it and drove off. Oh, and they missed in that short writeup, they dropped a wrecking ball on it. Still worked though.

Re: What ride j00 guys drive?

I was only kidding about the imports thing, anyhow.  I can't help it that I live in the middle of nowhere and have nothing to do.  It was fun taking that thing out in the field, the all wheel drive with a 6-speed is sweet.

The flywheel pulling debris into the clutch housing, that is not a problem with the driver, but with the design of the drivetrain.  There is no shroud to keep stuff out. I have already designed one, and plan to weld it up tomorrow night.

I have seen a few of those TopGear shows, they can be funny.  I saw the one where they destroyed a Porche 911 (one from teh 80's).  he drove it into the side of a barn, droped a wreaking ball on it and dropped it aout 100meters or so, it exploded into flames after that, then he laughed at how he forgot to drain the gas tank as it blew up. haha, they did it to such a nice car though... shrug I also saw one on the maybach up
and a Zonda (Mercedes V12) vs. some lambo,  Zonda won.

Re: What ride j00 guys drive?

Back on topic.  I drive a 1998 Mercury Mystique LS.

Mods:

-JVC head unit, new Pioneer 6x8s in the front
-Bright enough that they're almost illegal headlights
-Rain-X on the windshield. wink

However, my next car will be, in order of likelihood of my being able to afford said car:

Mitsubishi Eclipse
Mazda6, Mazda RX-8
Nissan Murano
Nissan 350z
Any Audi or BMW

Hmmm, better start saving soon!

You can actually get the 350z for the same price of an elipse, and it's a much better car, plus it has twice the projected resale value.

A 350z for the price of an eclipse???  According to the manufacturer's websites, the eclipse starts at $24,000 CDN, while the 350z starts at $45,000 CDN!!!

Please tell me where/how I can get a 350z for $24,000!!!!!

yeah, but who would pick an Eclipse over a 350Z?

the VQ35DE engine is by far better over the cheap V6 in the Eclipse.

I'm thinking of going with an E36 hatch and drop and S50, it would be quick

Re: What ride j00 guys drive?

yea but its pretty hard to find a 350z for 26,000. most are going to be closer to 30,000.

If you were going to speed 30,000 I'd recomend a EVO or STI

Hopefully the new eclipse is going back to the turbo 4 and actually be fast-ish again

Re: What ride j00 guys drive?

I dunno - I'd rather drive an RX-8 than an eclipse or a 350z. It jsut looks so much better.

Although I'm more likely to get that nice 300ZX Turbo. Heh.

In case anyone was wondering, here is my perfect car:

-185kW Electric motor (about 250 HP) with fuel cell stack
-CVT transmission
-3 5000-psi H2 Tanks, enough for about 600 miles
-Gull-wing or scissor doors
-Fingerprint ID system (will open doors, start car and adjust seat position, radio stations, etc. automatically)
-Heads-up display (laser-projected with IR and vector-assisted navigation)
-HID headlights
-Those little lights on the side of the car that blink when you lock it
-A chirping lock sound (not a horn honk, or a beep, or something; a real chirp)
-2 seats
-2 doors
-Removable hardtop
-UNIX computer running the whole thing from a voice-controlled computer (monitor is HUD)
-iPod dock (first generation)
-A way of getting hydrogen cheaply

That's a cool car. big_smile

Fine, a removeable electroactive cloth smarttop. It hardens on command and can be rolled up like cloth.
