How big can my avatar be? How many pixels?

Click on 'Profile' and look at the bottom for 'Avatar Control Panel'. It's covered there.
"...its width can be no greater than 100 pixels, the height no greater than 80 pixels, and the file size no more than 6 KB."

ive tried this many times, but how can i get the image to be less than 6KB???

Your file probly includes an image preview. Try using Export from the Preview app. Choose jpg, click options and set it to 6000 bytes. If that's still too big just drop it a little and reexport til it fits.
If you have photoshop it's a lot more precise.
