Re: what about this player instead of ipod?

I miss the good ole days when MP3 players didn't try to be "elegant".

yeah, because storing mp3's on a 64 mb flash card just really made my day!

and carry "any" hd based mp3 player to exercise/sweat/jump/crash really made my day tongue
there is different hw for different purpose.

Pfft...I hang there for the Motoring forums mostly (they're the busiest forums in Australia).

It might not be as cool as an ipod, but the replaceable battery is a big plus imo.

you should know better than coming here asking for an unbiased opinion...

Many times these forums remind me of the earlier "not made here" mentality of Apple....

So the equation is:

If {insert device name} = cool(large HD)(misc additions) + (affordable sticker price) but does not equal* (made by Apple) then {insert device name} SUCKS

*BTW, how DO i get a "not equal to" sign in BB code?

Some stuff...

Yeeaah, riight... Nooo-one, gave any, well thought, and informed reasons not to like the device.

Hmm, the breeze coming from the other direction has a hint of bias as well... Or is that bile?  tongue

PLEASE tell me that was a troll, and that you're not really THAT uneducated? Have you heard of the Pontiac GTO? Seen the 2004 model? We made it. It's an Australian-designed, Australian-made car, shipped to you guys and re-badged as a Pontiac.

^ Just a few. We also make Mitsubishis (Magnas, I think you guys call them Diamantes), and others...

Re: what about this player instead of ipod?

Tom's Hardware are full of crap if they think that player does more than the iPod. Other than that, I can see that being able to replace the battery yourself is a good thing, they will die eventually and there's nothing bad about avoiding an expensive service fee for having a professional replace it.

They're actually pretty good over at OCAU. Not too many Mac bashers at all.
