The Bachman Books - Rage, by Stephen King
Next will be Hearts in Atlantis, and then Dreamcatcher, which I'll have to finish before the movie comes out. Have I mentioned that I like Stephen King?

Make sure you read The Long Walk if you haven't yet. It is one of the most seriously disturbing books I've ever read, because it seemed so plausible.

Terry Goodkind - Faith of the Fallen.
Book 6 in a fiction series based around wizards.
If you want to start the series pick up Wizards First Rule.
Excellent story.

Do textbooks count? In case they do this semester I will be reading Linear Algebra, Intro to Optics, Modern Physics, Listen (a music book) and an control eng. book which I haven't bought yet.
The methods of science are manifestly effective, having made massive humanitarian contributions to society. It is this very effectiveness which the purveyors of mystical philosophies attack, because they recognise in it the chief threat to the belief-based source of their power and financial reward. -Harry Kroto, Nobel Laureate

I hate to say it, but if you are young, and are still in public/private school, then listening to a book is a cheap way out...since when I was i school I use to read a book a week...or two if it was a long one like the Unabridged version of The Stand.
If you are in college, and or in work, or run a buisness...reading a book is still possible, but not as likely unless you specifically allot your time to do it ie: before bed...
I read when i can now, but because of what I do, I listen to books on CD when I can...I read when I can, but because of my own type of writings that I do, I try to not be influenced by many styles, and those books I do get in CD, are ones I enjoyed, and can not find a time to sit down an read them...writings stories themselves is a full time effort, I am sitting in front of this computer sometimes from 10:00 in the morn to 2:00 in the morn the next day...writing...
As much as I would enjoy to sit down and read a good book, it is hard to find time to do so any more...
With age comes responsibility, and sometimes we have to give up those things we enjoy the most.

I have to agree with you. I don't personally listen to audio books, but i have a friend that does quite often. He gets bored listening to music and talk radio while he's working, so he alternates with audio books. When he's at home, he has no time to sit down and read. The guy works 2 jobs and supports a family. Wimp? I don't think so.

I think you'll agree with me that, time allowing, it's better to actually read a book than to listen to an audio book. However, both of you definately have a point. If I were in your friend's situation, I would probably listen to audio books as well (i hate talk radio
). So I don't really have anything against books on tape (notice the
next to my original post), but I prefer real books.

I prefer books over audio CDs myself 100% but with how I am a slave to writing, I listen while I write, because I can't allocate any time to myself to do otherwise.
This board to me is a distraction, and in some cases a grateful one.
