Is ET (Enemy Territory) coming out for mac?

It's been discussed ad nauseum in the other Mac sites, but basically nobody knows. A few Mac programmers have offered to step up and port it, but SplashDamage who did the original coding says they can't authorize releasing the code, and they can't/won't do a port in-house. Nobody seems to be getting any help or responsse from id/Activision (or at least nothing they have posted in public boards) so it's anybody's guess.

shrug Take from that what you will. I'm disgusted with the whole thing and have remained with Vanilla Wolf.

See what I dont get is that why dont they take these guys under their "wing" and let them port under the guise of being their own.

There can be so many solutions to this, but noone wants to put them selves out (except us mac people) to make this happen.

Well, my suggestion is to contact id or activision in a very nice and respectable manner asking for the source code to be released to qualified individuals under the same bylaws that it released the code to splash. I doubt anything will come of it, but it's certainly worth a try.

Everyone has contacted ID/Activision in every conceivable way.

There has been well crafted, logical and respectable multiple page letters to the other side of the sprectum, single sentece whining and cussing.

There is no logical explanation why ID has continually stalled the release of Mac RtCW and its updates. I have come to the conclusion that someone there has a vendetta against the Mac. If you have a better reason, pleasse tell me.

Because 3% of computer users use a Mac, while 90% of computer users use Winblows. Even a great selling game for the Mac makes no where near what an average selling game for the PC makes.

Game makers are in the business of making $$. While I hate the fact that we rarely get any cool games, I guess I understand it.

What I don't understand is why they make everything for Linux, and not for Mac. I bet you could install Linux on your Mac and run the game from that.

I'd guess since most or alot of servers run on 'nix, they get the ports.

Nah, I thought about doing that for TeamSpeak as well but everyone says no go. The apps are made specifically for x86 hardware. So it's either build/buy a PeeCee or enjoy what we have. I do the latter personally. big_smile

yeaht that sucks with teamspeak, its a really cool program (used it at peecee usin friends) but who cares about ET it sux!

Ever played it, on say a friends' machine? It's actually hella cool. Still, not likely to ever run on a Mac.

yeah I have played it and while it is pretty cool (you can lie down w00t) since it's probably not going to come out for mac I hate it tongue
