Heh.
It's probably decent music but I'm not a fan of the genre. Hint: iTMS lets your preview songs.

Re: Ani DiFranco
She's an incredibly talented song writer however, I think her voice is annoying. She wrote "32 flavors" that was performed years back by Alana Davis. Alana's version is much better on the ears

I liked Ani many years ago. In my opinion, Living In Clip is one of the best albums and one of the best tours I have ever heard or seen. After that release though, she really went down hill. I was actually at a show once where she wouldn't stop talking about how she wished she could just go back to her trailer and she told the whole audience to smurf off. I stopped liking her that night.

Re: Ani DiFranco
I saw her for her Reveling/Reckoning tour, and I enjoyed the show. Personally, I like her last couple of CDs because they're not quite as militant lesbian man hating as her early work. It's like she realized that she could, in fact, write songs about things besides how evil men and hetero relationships are.

Re: Ani DiFranco
I like Ani and her music is certainly something you don't hear on clearchannel. I became really interested in her after Living in Clip and I have a good portion of her recordings. Much of her early work can be seen as militant-lesbian-esque, or as I like to call it "bitter chick songs."
I definately think that she has matured as an artist over the last few years and several albums. She's a Buffalo, NY native so I think I've been exposed to her more than the average listener (as I lived in Buffalo for the pastnine years.) I also ate at a restaurant next to her and browsed a book shelf at the local bookstore next to her. That said, she's a really short women.
Ani, by the way, is married to a member of her band. I think he plays guitar.
And whomever said the re-done version of "32 Flavors" is better, I personally disagree.
If anyone is seriously interested in hearing some of her work, try Living in Clip or the very well rounded Little Plastic Castles which doesn't seem to be available on the iTMS as of yet.

Re: Ani DiFranco
I first heard of her when I hung out with guitar playing, coffee shop-type, hippie lesbians. They liked to play her mellow stuff at open mic night.
When I got to college it was the grungy, hair colored, sex fiend feminazis but it was still Ani. A helluva lot louder and more rockin'.

Re: Ani DiFranco
I think Ani is awesome. I saw her in concert during the Revelling/Reckoning tour and she was amazing.
Although the concert go-ers were 'interesting'. I was mortified to see a massive sea of lesbians (and I am one, and they scared me) all in dreadlocks (like Ani) with the same tattoo as Ani somewhere on their bodies. It was damn creepy. Almost cult-like.
Despite that, she was great

I really liked "The Past Didn't Go Anywhere" which is Ani producing and adding music to spoken word recordings of Utah Phillips. It's cool. I like her regular stuff as well.

OK- She's the chick that does "32 flavors"
I know who she is.
I'm not that fond of her music - but she's got a body made for Rock-n-Roll.
Real R&R.
What a shame ... (from my POV - not meant as a flame to her fans)

On that album she looks like that Irish chick - the one that ripped the picture of the pope on SNL.
