Re: No wonder the school system is lousy! Girl busted for Advil?

This is rather disturbing, especially as Rockstar and company is being sued over murder because two punk kids are able to get off the rap by claiming the game influenced them.  As they say in South Park, "Blame Canada".  This mentality seems to be taking over everywhere.  People need to take responsibility for their own actions.  The music didn't make you do it, and satan is to old school.

I agree with you that people need to be judged for their own actions. I would even go as far as to say that the influence of drugs should have no bearing on civil lawsuits (meaning that it can't be used as a defense). At the same time, however, I think that  media/instructors/parenting is to blame in several degrees. I guess I don't really know where to draw the line.

Good judgement comes from experience,
And experience comes from bad judgement.

Re: No wonder the school system is lousy! Girl busted for Advil?

i remember at one of my junior highs we were able to carry one dose of Tylenol with us at school, but it was prohibited to give it to anybody. At my high school now (different district) the nurse is allowed to give us Tylenol, Sudafed, and a few other OTC pills if parents signed a sheet at the begginging of the year.

However, I'm fairly sure we have the zero tolerance policy for carrying pills also, however we all do it anyway. In fact, one of my favorite teachers, my chemestry teachers, at the first of the year was like:

"I know everyone has their bad days, so, just to let you know, I have a bottle of tylenol in my desk drawer and it is illegal to give it to you, however, I can't do anything if you steal it without me knowing *wink*"

most of my teachers are cool like this, except for a few. The administration also seems fairly lienient, however I have never been caught.

still, the rules are retarded, in surrounding public districts, it requires a DOCTORS NOTE for parents to allow the nurse to give their kids OTC drugs! I can see why districts dont let kids decide, but PARENTS? Doctors are getting pissed off because parents are calling for permission to give their kids tylenol!

end of rant

goodbye
