Some more PS2 questions here...

I gave myself a PS2 for Christmas and now it's time to buy some games. Therefor I have some questions regarding this:

1. Is games as well as memorycards sensitive to region as DVD's are. I have a PAL-system(whatever that stands for) and I know that US-systems are NTSC. Ie are games sold in US for NTSC systems only? If not could you recomend some good resellers?

2. What is the horisontal stand good for?

3. I've read that the PS2 has a  variable screen resolution from 256x224 to 1280x1024 is it posible for me to change this resolution manually or is it set automaticly by the game? I only have a 20" TV-screen.

Now, where in the name of... did I put that thing that I forgot what it was and why I was looking for it?

Re: Some more PS2 questions here...

1. I dunno about memory card, but I know that NTSC games are 500% not compatable with PAL stystems, just like DVDs.

2. Nothing. Well, scratch that, I guess if you keep it on the floor it would... oh never mind, it's as useless as an NTSC game in you machine.

3. I think the games do it manually, but I'm not sure.

Hope that helps, and if not, good luck.

Upping the res would do no good because your TV cant display res that high. I assume the high res is for HDTVs....maybe...

You are refering to Progressive Scan. Not all games have it. SOCOM is a good example. You must also have a TV that is Progressive Scan-ready. HDTV, plasma displays, and high end regular TVs all have it. (if you want to get that kind of TV, spend a little extra and get Plasma, HDTVs never impressed me)

If you have DSL or Cable modems, you owe it to yourself to get the Network Adapter to play SOCOM online.

Re: Some more PS2 questions here...

Well I was actually thinking of a posibility to LOWER the screenresolution. With only a 20" TV and GTA3 it can be really tiresome to try to interpret the map without having to glue the eyes to the screen. If I could lower the resolution I would get a bigger image and save my eyes.
