Safari Stopped Working....
For no apparent reason.
Now whenever I try to start it the icon bounces a few times, then it says that Safari unexpectedly quit.
I haven't changed one thing, I even got rid of it then reinstalled it.
Runnin OS X.2.3

Re: Safari Stopped Working....
I downloaded the latest version (v51)
How would I go about deleting the preferences without going through the application? would it be in the contents?

Re: Safari Stopped Working....
The prefs would either be in ~/Library/Preferences, or in ~/Library/Safari. You could trash both to be safe. Not the whole ~/Library/Preferences folder, just the Safari prefs file inside it.

Re: Safari Stopped Working....
Would those be hidden?
I don't see either.

Re: Safari Stopped Working....
Just search for Safari and toss out anything that is in ~/Library or ~/Library/Preferences or wherever. Should work.
Good Luck

Re: Safari Stopped Working....
I'm having a similar problem, i downloaded safari and a few days later it would quit upon launch...but then i noticed it wasnt just safari that would crash upon startup, all my apps do now. I have no idea whats going on, i heard about a nasty bug within safari that would replace the home directory with a downloadable file, but I dunno if thats the problem I'm having. I'm sure the only thing that could have cause this problem was safari, because everything was working fine previous to the installation. Any whoo, any help would be greatly accpreciated. O, just in case in matter im running(or was hehe) a g4 733 quicksilver, with os 10.2.3 build 6G30.

Re: Safari Stopped Working....
Search Apple's Knowledge base or Discussion forum for instructions on how to fix that.
The early version of Safari would trash some important resources.
You will have to use the terminal to execute some commands (forgot what they are so search Apple's site).
Hope that helps.

Re: Safari Stopped Working....
stosh, look and see if your home directory is still there...
try this in the terminal...
ln -s /private/tmp /tmp
That should hopefully fix it if that is indeed the problem.
