How to record Cable Modem down time?

Hi all,

As the subject states, I would like to know if it is possible, if so how, to record the up and down times of a Cable modem service?

It seems like our service is down for at least a few hours per day!

Thank

Other than writing down or typing it as far as I know there some ways of keeping track of the modem's downtime.

Re: How to record Cable Modem down time?

I wrote a simple shell script some time ago and posted it to one of these forums for doing essentially what you want.  All it did was ping whatever address you specified at some interval and save the timestamped output to a file.  I can try to find it (or something similar) if you're interested.

OK - the mail is on the way.  Good luck, and let me know if you have any questions.
