Importing into Address book, need a little help.

A friend just got a cool new iMac, and all is going well for him, except he's got his old address book from his Win98 exported as a .csv and he can't import it into his Mac OS X Address Book.

I'm clueless as well, since Address Book seems to want import vCards, but not much else.

Any ideas?

thanks!

have you tried just dragging the entries out of the windows address book - this should create a bunch of vcards that you can then transfer to the mac and drag into addressbook.app

oddly enough, his address book is in MS Works format, not address book.  so all i got to work with his ability to export it in text formats, either tab delimited or comma separated.

and Mac OS X AB doesn't seem to want to have anything to do with either...

Use Palm Desktop or Microsoft Entourage as an intermediate? You could download the free Palm Desktop, import his files into that, and export as vCard. ^_^

I used the Mozilla address book as an intermediate.
