Something I must say...
yeah true.
They should just buy one.
It's not like every PowerBook has problems.
We should make a thread were everybody that has one with no Problems
like me
Also a warp or white spoted PowerBook is still better then a Dell with
windows right
A Bunch of Apple Stuff...
Thanks to me my Friends use Apple, but still prefer Oranges.

Re: Something I must say...
How about, "What bag should I get?" There most be a 100 threads on this topic alone.

Re: Something I must say...
Sometimes the problem is that the subject line is ambiguous. I mean, how many threads are there with "I have a question" or "I have a problem"? rather than "My such-and-such PowerBook does/doesn't do such-and-such." Ideally, someone should be able to get a pretty good handle on what the thread is about by looking at the subject as listed in the forum index.

Re: Something I must say...
yea, it can get very annoying. but i can understand why they do that. they can feel much more secure and convinced when they ask their own question and have that personal question answered. it can tedious to the people answering if they have to answer a similar question 20 times a day...but sometimes that's what a support group has to do. support people. but i guess there's always a limit to patience. lol. if the thread is over 10-15 pages behind...maybe it's not so bad to answer them..

My Rev. a 12" Powerbook works perfectly fine.
I have a nice Timbuk2 bag and Timbuk2 sleeve for it.
I don't run a bunch of hacks on it.
I am happy with my computer.
There... although File Vault put me down for a few days. But I fixed that.
Yes, the repeat threads are getting old. A nice "stickied" FAQ and info post would be great.
Also... are we ever going to update the title of this forum?

Better can mean many things to different people. For acquiring the latest virus, I'd say the Dell was better. If you want to run Windows, the Dell is better. If you want a workout while transporting your laptop, the Dell is better. If you want something that doubles as a space heater...ok we have a tie on that one.
If you need to run FCP, the PowerBook is better. If OS X is your cup of tea, the PowerBook is better. If you like thin, light, full featured laptops, the PowerBooks are better. If you need unix functionality and office apps, the PowerBook is better.

Don't forget if you want to run photoshop, encode video/music, anything that required lots of cpu usage, wintel laptop is better(as in faster! much faster)
Just as G5 is equal or better then most p4/Xp, G4 get completely blown away by both G5 and p4/xp!

that's true, that's why there is a full line of ar.... Dell laptop from 2.99lb M300 to 6.9lb Ins 8600 with 128M video ram desktop replacement.
I am not saying Dell is best, i am saying Apple's current line of laptop give good balance, but it is "NOT" best on every situation.

Re: Something I must say...
That is true that some Intel Laptops and Desktops are Faster
then G4's in Benchmarks. But what about real time working.
We have at work PC, Macs and some SGI's and how often the PC's crash
compare the Macs. We get the Job still faster on the Macs do to the Fact.
They don't crash or need some kinda Driver or Securtiy Update and don't
need to reboot every 2 hours.
Yes for Rendering Macs do Sucks. Thats why have a Linux and a Irix Rendering Farm

Re: Something I must say...
This has really been ticking me off lately, maybe there needs to be a "READ ME FIRST" sticky on this forum or something but...There seem to be a ton of newbies who come in here and are like "I've heard about this problem on the powerbook xx inch and I've heard its a big deal, is this true?" Or something to that effect, when there's 14 damned threads below that tell them exactly what they want to know. Or someone will be "Hey I'm looking to buy a new xx inch powerbook, what should I know about it?" When we've fielded that questions many times and all they'd have to do is scroll down to get the info they need. It gets a little tedious to field the same damned questions about new powerbooks over and over, I swear sometimes I just want to post "WHY DON'T YOU READ THE DAMNED THREADS RIGHT UNDER THE ONE YOU JUST POSTED THAT ANSWER YOUR EXACT QUESTIONS!!" I hope other people have noticed this too and I'm not just crazy. Its good that so many new people are interested in the new powerbooks but geeze...this is getting ridiculous.
Sounds like its time to start your own private forum.

Yeah, it can it get annoying at times; not only with newbies, but people in general who meander in here and post without taking advantage of previous content. Such is the world of internet forums I suppose.
