Re: For saturday...

Pur, you got it. If we have 6 we go 6 x 6 (that is what is planed). If we have 5 we will have to see if G5 will agree to 5 v 5. If we have > the agreed # then we will rotate players.

I started a Consolidated [MA] v [G5] thread and it would be nice to keep everything there please. big_smile

Re: For saturday...

I'm checking to see if it'll be playable enough for my G4. If it is, I'll let you know, and that I'm best with long range weapons, so it'd probably be best if I stuck with defense. I'll get some practice in about now. hmm

Yup. Beyond playable, even with high settings. I dunno what people were bellyaching about.

Anyway, I'm having an issue with my right strafe locking to a constant on position and I can't do anything about it... any pointers?

You aren't going to want to hear this but I'd be willing to bet that it is a hardware problem. sad  Are you using the keyboard and if so which keys? To check this assign right strafe to a different key and see what happens.

Not hardware. Tested the same strafing set up in JKII. No problems. I use the left shift for left strafe and z for right strafe. I reassigned the keys to test to g and h to no avail. Any other ideas?

Re: For saturday...

OK. Try this. In your ~/Library/Application Support/Unreal Tournament 2003/System folder move your current User.ini and UT2003.ini files to another folder (I just create a folder named HideUm in the System folder). Then fire up UT2K3. What will happen is that all new User.ini and UT2003.ini files will be created. See what happens before you make any changes from the defaults then do your modifications and see what happens.

Probably won't be able to make it tonight, though.

Some one over on the Atari forums had the same issue with the demo. When they bought the full, it went away.

Only thing I can think of is to trash your user.ini and let UT2K3 make ya a new one.

Re: For saturday...

This topic has more loose threads than a cheap suit, so let me try to Gestalt this back at you for my own sake:

The Match:

Date & Time:

Saturday 20 December at 11:00 PM GMT which is 6:00 PM EST.

Game Server:
[G5] computer 138.67.4.145.
(note to self: assign a hot key to this IP in case of crash, for speedy return

note to brain: this doesn't seem to work in 2k3)

Pre-Game Chat Meeting:
IRC Server:
irc.enterthegame.com
Channel:
#clanma @ 5:30 PM EST, 4:30 CST, 2:30 PST.

Suggested Roster:
Levi-D
Jax-D
Brain-Mid & Support
Pur-Mid & Support
DocB- O
(Loup,Dan, Wang)???- O

Match specifics:
6 v 6. If we have more than 6 we will rotate.
15 Time Limit, No score limit

Maps:
[MA] chose:
CTF-Orbital2
DM-TokaraForest
BR-IceFields
DOM-SepukkuGorge

[G5] chose:
CTF-Citadel
DM-Antalus
BR-Anubis
DOM-Junkyard

Tie breaker: TBD

(CTF-BR-DOM Strategy (no peeking)): Pur, you and I are Mid Support. The strategy is to remove or harrass enemy Flag Chargers mid-map, report their position to Defense, take out snipers, and wait to escort our Flag Runner/Ball Carrier back to base. Also, lead the hunt for the EFC in case of Mexican Standoff (both Flags missing). Best case scenario, one of us stays behind to harrass while the other escorts the FC/BC. Omega usually put its best players on Mid Support; I'm flattered.

TDM strategy: KILL!!! Also, support any lone wolf teammates in a fire fight while making sure not to get set up for a Double Kill.)

Yup that is about it. Couple things to add. Meet in #clanma a half hour before so we can get organsized. Another important job of Mid players, that is to weaken the incoming so defence isn't fighting fully healthy baddies.

The only time mid guys should get into a super heated volley of bullets is to protect our FC or trying to kill the EFC. You got it down pretty well Brain. BTW I will float between Mid and D. Stick my head out of the base, scope out the incoming, duck back in and do what I do best...ambush.

Re: For saturday...

Here is some small analysis of the CTF maps and other stuff:

CTF-Orbital

3 routes - orienting from the flag facing out. The map is flipped mirrored symmetrical.
    Right - upper
    Left - upper
    Center - lower
The middle of this map is very important. All paths pass though the middle and the FC is exposed to attack from above. The FC can lift-boost to the high platform but has to come down to the upper or lower level to continue his run. Here you need two defenders; one on the high platform and the other on the upper level. This will be the main battle point for control of the map. The base defenders need to cover the side passages out of the base. If the FC escapes the base the base defenders should each take a side passage and report the FC's position. If you are the FC you should try to vary your route; cross, up and down. Report where you are to your team. This map is fairly well zoned

Re: For saturday...

Other things to keep in mind (New to UT2K3):

Using the T'loc as a camera.

Linking with the link gun. I've heard the alt fire is nasty when someone is linked with you, even better if you can manage 2 links.

Minigun's primary fire is messy, but fast. The alt fire is narrow and tight, but slower. Use primary for distance and alt for close up.

No so new, but worth mentioning. Shock balls block incoming rockets.

Re: For saturday...

Also, I've been doing a bunch a DM on the ur^ server, and have noticed the good players make liberal use of the Shield (Shield Gun + hold down right mouse btn). This is new for me, but I'm assigning Get Shield to a mouse button it's so important. I plastered a guy with a  Shock Combo, and his Shield just bounced it away.

CTF-Citadel: watch out for the FC exiting via the Sniper Nest Transporter. A Forward dodge can safely take the FC from the Sniper Nest to either left or right tower. The FC can safely shimmy down the tower to the bridge with no loss of health. Hope [G5] isn't reading all this. big_smile

I've had this same problem, but only once in a while and quitting UT2K3 and restarting it makes it go away.  Definitely not hardware, but I don't have  fix either.  BTW, I use a Logitech MX700 wireless mouse
