New Halo book is out.

I dunno if any of you have read the first two, but I think you'd like em.

The first covers the creation of the SPARTAN II's, and the 2nd is basically the Halo campaign made into a book.

The third one:

just came out, and I think its basically Halo 2 in a book.

You can read a short preview of it from that link, so enjoy.

I read the first 50 pages of First Strike at a book store, and it didn't make much sense. It started talking about the other SPARTANS landing on Reach and trying to defend it...but that happened in the other book...so it starts off very confusing for me smile

You read tacky books based on games? Maybe if the in-game story had been stronger

FSAA doesn't work on PC, but it does on Mac, at least for ATi.

Got a question for you Bat. My set up is a G5 Dual 2 GHz with the Apple OEM ATI 9800. Which takes less of a hit performance wise while maintaining a nice picture

Re: New Halo book is out.

I've read '1600x1200 or higher,' but no specifics.

With the problems it ameliorates besides the jaggies (texture shimmer etc), lower res w/FSAA & AF (e.g., 1024x768 or 1280x960 with 4xMSAA/ 8xAF) might well produce a better image with framerates similar to 'raw' 1600x1200. (Yes, FSAA, and even AF, always take away at least potential framerate- actual if the platform has adequate push. I expect your machine does).

Wait- vidmode is width, height, refresh rate. Refresh rate of 0 is right for your display? LCDs have no refresh per se, but do 'renew' at some rate like 60Hz.

I'm not really conversant with this, but you might try again with a third value other than 0, like 60. Shouldn't hurt. (You won't sue, will you? smile )

Re: New Halo book is out.

Another thing you might try is forcing 960x600, with at least 4x/8x FSAA/AF. That should avoid interpolation issues while still producing fine image Q and framerates.
