Re: Web Editing Software

Now let me add SubEthaEdit to the mix. Very good code coloring and it's lightweight and cheap (ie: free).

Best damn app around. Doesn't waste code in adding smurfy implementations of features OS X already provides in it's api. Has automatic previews and will in the future have previews for the server so you can check your scripts on the loopback smile . Also did I mention it's going to be opensourced soon.
eek

Oh and wysiwyg's are teh suck.

Re: Web Editing Software

Free:  pico

I've recently discovered that pico has been messing with my php files, they won't execute (blank pages). I think it either a) removes escape characters or b) changes my line endings.
Either way, I'm going to be using emacs from now on if I have to edit from the terminal, otherwise, SubEthaEdit all the way!

Re: Web Editing Software

I'm a recent convert to the joy that is SubEtha, what a sweet program.  I was wondering if there was an auto-complete for coding?  Or if there was an addition that I could download, I'm not as much lazy as I could use another set of eyes on my work as I often tyop often. smile

I know it would probably bog down the elegant program but I think the feature would rock.  I know, I know the color coding would mark clear what was wrong, just wondering.

...I was wondering if there was an auto-complete for coding?...

they will almost certainly add that, if you look at the bug tracking thing, Syntax Completion is the second most popular feature that people want added, it is right behind regex search and replace

and i love that program love

I've found myself in it more and more for quick editing as I'm able to do pure code editing without GoLive...

Actually, SubEthaEdit had already been mentiioned (sort of). It used to be known as Hydra, which was mentioned several times. tongue

Re: Web Editing Software

While wysiwyg does weaken coding skills Coding weakens design skills. But people who love code usually aren't artsy fartsy disign types anyway

Or... Real men use Text edit to make real ugly pages. big_smile

Anybody have an opinion about Freeway?  Aside from it not being for "real men"?

Actually, real men don't get into childish debates about wysiwyg vs hand coding. Those who do are compensating for feelings of inadequacy in human sexual relations.  wink  tongue
