10.2.1 and 10.2.2 updates
I'm planning to soon (and finally) download the 10.2.1 and 10.2.2 updates. But I want to find were there any issues related to the updates I should be aware of. After seeing so many problems with 10.2.3 and later updates, I figured to check it out first.
Thanks.

Why don't you just go to 10.2.8?

Re: 10.2.1 and 10.2.2 updates
You have to do some serious hunting to find a specific point update after a successor is released. After that, usually the only thing that's available is a combo update which will shoot you up several point releases at a time.
And yes, 10.2.8 is perfectly fine, so just do that.

Weird.
Don't you find it a little bit overkill to wait that much time?

I think I have just about every point update since OS X came out.

Read about the 10.2.8 update and then download it. Or, better yet, buy Panther

Light Speed and sosumi. I'm thinking I had to go from 10.2.1 thru 10.2.7. Didn't know that.
And Seidoger to answer you question why i'm waiting to long? I guess i was freaking out because all this issues and problems with all the updates. And plus at the time I had dial-up.
I already have 10.2.8 in the software update so I guess i will go ahead and install the software.

Nope
Apple lets you jump over the inbetweens.
Make sure you run update permissions after you upgrade

Re: 10.2.1 and 10.2.2 updates
Use the SOFTWARE UPDATE to download to Desktop 10.2.8 . why ? Because there is more than one 10.2.8 ! Software Update will choose correctly.
GO to System Preferences and choose Software Update. Click "update." After a minute, some items appear. Uncheck everything except 10.2.8. Then go to the File menu and DOWNLOAD ITEMS TO DESKTOP. If you're on a modem, go get some videos from a rental house because it's going to take 5 hours !
DO NOT DOWNLOAD THE WRONG 10.2.8.
You know -- there is an easier way. Bring a blank CD to burn to your nearby Apple Store http://www.apple.com/retail/thefalls/ and make them download the correct 10.2.8, Quicktime updates, iTunes Update, Security Updates. (And don't let them give you any backtalk that they are not allowed to do it. If they have a "genius" there, then they should be able to do it for you. The Apple Store I was at didn't lift a finger when I had to download the much smaller 10.2.3 a year ago. It was my first time to burn a CD.

Re: 10.2.1 and 10.2.2 updates
Go to the software update, it will show many upgrades to do!!!
Do the 10.2.8 upgrade first!!!! The reason is may of the security updates and others were wraped up in the 10.2.8 update. That way you will have to update as many. When that is done do the permissions repair. then run the software updater again and then do what needs to be done.!!!

I work at an apple store, and it isn't our job to download and burn updates for you, when you are perfectly capable of doing it yourself. Especially in the case of a genius, because not only do they have to download and burn your updates, they have a million other things to do.

I don't know if he wanted the Apple Store employees to do it for him as much as just using one of the networked computers they have at the Apple Store for their broadband connection.

Re: 10.2.1 and 10.2.2 updates
Here's a scenario where one may have good reason to want the interim updaters:
I have a Sonnet-upgraded G4/400 AGP, and I recently had to reinstall 10.2. Much to my surprise, the 10.2.8 combined updater refuses to install on my machine. I have had the upgrade installed since last spring, and I never had any problems with whatever OS updates have been released since then, but apparently, making the jump between 10.2 and 10.2.8 is unsupported on my upgraded system.
My next step is to track down all the updaters and try them in sequence one by one along with the 10.2.8 updater, and see which (if any) of them allow me to get the most current 10.2.8.
(pain in the butt!
grrr!)
