Dying eye lashes
Ok, this is a new one on me. Do you, or do you know anyone that dyes their eye lashes? There was a news segment about metrosexual men, and one of the things they spotlighted in the segment was about dying eyelashes. Both men and women do it. I was a little surprised since eyelashes fall out fairly quickly. I wonder if it's cost effective.

I'd hate to spill bleach in my eyes by accident.

What's the point? That's one of the last things I notice.

That is dumb. I have never thought of dying my eyelashes.

I guess so they'd be more prominent. Like people with blonde lashes that want them dark and don't want to wear makeup.
By the way, properly applied make up is not noticeable either.

You don't use bleach to dye. You use bleach to take color out.
I figured they were using the dyes (or bleach
) to create patterns.

I would think it to be a slightly dangerous practice. I know no one who does it.

The warning labels on the dye bottle should have tipped them off.

They showed a man and a woman getting done. Eyes closed with some sort of paper thing under the lashes right up to where the eye is closed. They didn't seem too uncomfortable.

Sounds like a tremendous waste of money to me. If you are thinking of doing this, just give an equivalent amount of money to a shelter or something.

I'm not thinking of doing this. I was just wondering if anyone else had heard of it. As for the donation comment. Sorry. I give to the SPCA. That's my charity of choice.

Make up accentuates what is already there. If you can see makeup on the skin, then they have too much on.

Re: Dying eye lashes
Beyond some basic eye gunk, I don't really care for makeup on the ladies. If you wanna do it go right ahead. However if for some reason I end up in a relationship with another woman (yeah the wife would live that!), after a while they just stop wearing makeup.
Than get very angry when I don't notice.
sup wit dat?

Then is it safe to assume that they are not employed as Iron workers, Truck Drivers, or Jackhammer operators?
Dyeing one's eye lashes does not sound like something my opthamologist would recommend.

Re: Dying eye lashes
I would strongly advise against getting one's eyelashes dyed. Hair colors are one of the very few exemptions to the lead-free rules. Lead acetate is the main compound that allows grey or other light colored hair to take the nice auburns and browns. Yes, I'm saying that dark hair colorings are poisonous and contain Lead in an easily ingested form. Hence be sure to rinse thoroughly after use.
I'd not want lead compounds so close to the mucous membranes of my eyes. The Lead would be too easy to absorb.

Re: Dying eye lashes
The colorants they use to dye eyelashes is mostly vegetal dye. It's mostly natural and is less dangerous than regular dyes...doesn't mean it can't still cause burns or in some cases blindness.
The purpose of it is so that the eyelashes are darker and the person can just curl their lashes and not have to wear mascara.
Personally...I think it's a waste. Considering mascara holds the curl you just put in your lash, your lashes fall out quickly and well...dying is a smurfload of money each time not to mention the medical bills that come from a booboo with that.
bullsmurf! I can't hear you. Sound off like you got a pair.
