Great job guys!!
MA wins 5 out of 8 matches...we didn't need to play the last one!
Great job, great team! Great games, thanks G5!
I have some screens, I'll post them in a bit.
Peace!

Re: Great job guys!!
Thanks Levi, DocB, Wang, Loo and Pur. I saw lots of great plays by all of you. It was pleasure fraggin' with you. Definitely the most fun I've had at 2k3 yet.
Can't wait to get my G5.

Re: Great job guys!!
We done good. Though we never really had a formal practice we all have played together in UT enough that it worked very well. I think if we made a concerted effort to practice together and work on or communication we could do some stuff. Will have to get G5 again before they have more time to practice.
Pur gets hero award for sticking in there with all the trouble he had staying online. Ya' done good bud!

It's the perfect excuse to get one! My wife will believe that, right? Plus, there's Dan; we haven't had a chance to add him or others to a roster.
I'm up for a regular practice. Weekends are still best. I"ll be starting school in January.
Yes, a double wOOt to Pur. It's frustrating to get dropped so often from a match, and he made some siginificant plays to boot. It happened to me back in UT99 days when I had video card troubles.

There you go, Brain! "Honey (or preferred term of endearment for one's significant other) you know with me going back to school I really need that G5 to excel in my studies." This of course slipped into the conversation after a nice bottle of wine and candle light (meal optional).

Re: Great job guys!!
That's one approach. In the smoke filled rooms of marriage, I think it will actually turn to be "Honey, guess who's getting a new iMac to replace her Cube. Oh, and one more thing."

Wait for the first rev of the G5 motherboard. That should probably occur within a month or two. You don't want to buy a hardware defect.

Re: Great job guys!!
I'm hanging on for dear life, Kirk. I need a G5 to play 2k3 (although I'll still probably suck), but I have a whole list of reasons over in Rumor Mill explaining why I want to wait for the next rev.

Well, there is always the dark side.
I never dropped a frame on Saturday, never dropped below 30FPS, never crashed and got some killer screens.

Re: Great job guys!!
Pur you play great with lesser equipment than I have. You have my respect!

I only have room for one computer on my desk now. I've got about $4K invested in Mac software, which is absolutely the most comfortable environment for me to make money in.
There's a part of me that would like to own an Alienware box, but the hassle of all those security updates, worms, trojans, spyware, RegEdit, fear of email, the M$ Oops Factor (as in "Oops my box was working fine yesterday"; I got a million of these stories) make it a very risky investment for my business. Gaming is a great hobby, but ...

But it's only the stoopid who get hammered by those. The ones who open everything and don't know the meaning of "no" and "cancel".

Re: Great job guys!!
LOL! You're probably right. I never open anything like that on the Mac, of course, .exes never run on the Mac anyway, and I don't use any Microsoft macro-running software so things are good.
It was secretly fun watching everyone scramble at work as virus after virus hit the network. Luckily we had a good hacker in IT, who'd know the ports these things came in on. After a few good scares they'd managed to close almost all the ports on the PCs, until somebody got a new one.
So where do you get your community as a Windows user? What BBS do you hang out on, where you ask questions about your box, etc.?

Personally the only "PC" forums I hang around are the HardOCP forums, and I post a bit at forums for Averatec users (the brand of laptop I own).

Re: Great job guys!!
No, you're not alone; I've thought about it a lot, Doc. "At least XP doesn't look like Windows (insert year here)", I tell myself.
It all started when MDK 2 came out. MDK for Mac is my all-time favorite 256 color game; to find out I'd never get to play the sequel, even if it sucked, was hard. Then the whole Half Life for Mac thing really teed me off.
However, I realize, I don't really want to go overboard on games; I have other things in life that need to get taken care of, and having a decent PC would open me up to a lot of game choices. I hate RPGs, and other game types, so I'm lucky in that regard, but I can barely keep up with config-ing and re-configing UT2k3 as new tips come to my awareness. I had to choose between Quake III and UT at one point, they were both sucking up so much time.
Of course, not being very good at any of the games I choose helps limit the amount of time I play too.

Re: Great job guys!!
Most of my hanging out is done at mfg. sites (Dell, Cisco, Sonicwall & M$). Tons of reading online and off. MaxPC and Google searches were the biggest help in building my PC.
Two reasons I went the PC route are:
1) I don't work with Macs anymore. Since my layoff and vow that I'd never get back into the printing industry. My new employer doesn't have any Macs. Now the future of that is totally up to me.
2) Games, I'm an advid gamer. I don't golf or have many other expensive hobbies. I spend about the same time and money on fishing and gaming. So those are my two outlets. I've grown tired of waiting for my favorite games to come to my favorite platform (if they come at all). Can you say Half Life 2?

Kick a guy while he's down, whydontcha?
No new Macs at MWSF.
Now I have to choose to go with a G5 that will or more likely will not run 2k4, or keep getting lamer on the G4 until a phatter G5 comes out.
