HELP!!! Engenius WIFI card w/PB G4 OS X.2 HELP!!!
I'm trying (and failing) to use a third party wifi card with my powerbook, and seem to be failing. Could somebody fill me on in what I'm supposed to be doing?
I have a the 200mw Engenius internal antenna wifi card (available from surfandsip.com for $85).
I'm trying to run it on a powerbook G4 500. I'm running 10.2. I have downloaded two different third party drivers: one from ioxperts.com and another from sourceforge.net.
The sourceforge.net driver doesn't recognise the card whatsoever. The ioxperts driver sees there is a card present - it shows me the signal strength and available transfer speed.
Network in System Preferences sees that there is a new network port, and allows me to decide if I want to connect via dchp, ppp, have appletalk on or off, etc. Trying to connect via internet connect fails, which I am told is to be expected.
My landlord offers free wifi access, and am trying to connect in my apartment. (I know the wifi is up and running, as I have used a friends Wintel machine in the apartment.) The landlord runs everything with Microsoft access points run from windows machines. It is an open network - no log in needed, no encryption, no nothing.
This is my first attempt at installing a wifi device of any kind.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Why not just use an Airport card? You already have the slot for it built in.
