What are you talking about?
Frontpage is great for legitimate up-and-coming companies like americasbestsoftware.net!

I think I should make a plugin that searches the meta tags for Frontpage and then spares the user from viewing the crap.

I'll pay the shareware fee for that one.
If It's Made With Frontpage, It Must Be Crap.

Re: Oh horrors! MS and Choices.
ActiveX = Java, only different
C# = hell, I don't know what they were thinking with this one
ActiveX is nothing like Java. Its COM (Component Object Model) rebadged and modified to run in an instance of IE.
C# is actually pretty slick and was designed by a leading language designer renowned in the industry.
At least get it right man.

Not to mention:
Java = platform independent
ActiveX = Windows only

Yeah activeX sucks. Its good if you have a controlled enviroment in which you'll only run IE but for general websites it just dosen't work out I feel.
Of course it dosen't work with Firebird which is my browser of choice.
.NET server side components make more sense to me these days than ActiveX.

In my opinion, anything that relies on IE is bad by association.

I agree mostly. Its not a good idea to tie yourself to any one given technology (that isn't standardized at least).
I will admit that in a scenario like a corporate enviroment where IE is standardized across the desktop ActiveX can be a godsend in certain situations.
On the plus side many of the problems that ActiveX is really good at solving are becoming just as easy to solve using Web Services and standards like SOAP/XML. Thats a move in the right direction in my eyes. Its frees companies from heavily reliance on one vendor.

Tell that to my "Web design" prof, who said in class today that she used to have the students check their web pages in both IE and Netscape, but now "because everyone uses Explorer" the pages will be made to look good in IE only.
BTW, I'm dropping the class because it's for "n00bs" (I can't believe I wrote that!) and I have 6 1/2 years of coding under my belt.
If I knew what I was doing, I wouldn't be here.

That is sad. What a pathetic teacher. The comp sci courses at my university are a little more platform agnostic.

Re: Oh horrors! MS and Choices.
As for MS I wouldn't expect any less from them on this issue. They make competing software and this is a market they want.
What market don't they want??

lol. Good point. None that I can think of myself. If it needs software they want it.
