Re: PETA and Kentucky Fried Chicken

Has anyone been thinking of the rights of the vegetables?!

Yeah!  When you eat a cow, at least it's dead when you eat it.  When you eat a carrot, it's still alive when you eat it.

How it more humane to eat something that is still alive than something that is dead.

They say Meat is Murder ... but have they considered the carrots!?!?

they dont...
why would they? atkins will kill you off faster than eating healthy.

i wonder.. if there was a special "bacon juice" marketed to atkins people. would they drink bacon fat?

At the risk of being flamed, all members of PeTA are jackasses who don't realize how wrong their beliefs are and they should all just move to a deserted island and stay away from the rest of us instead of setting labs on fire and protesting fast food chains. down

Re: PETA and Kentucky Fried Chicken

Wow, you miss a lot in a day.  Sorry I couldn't defend myself, but I work a lot.

A few high points

Vegetarians/Vegans don't do Atkins they follow the American Heart Associations guideline.  High fiber and low fat.  I personally combine that with exercise.  I know that's revolutionary.  Maybe I'll write a book on it!
wink

They are cutting down the rainforest for cattle grazing.  It's actually the main reason.  So much for calling yourself an environmentalist if you eat meat.

Lots of hate on this board against PETA.  Quit watching Fox News or at least quit believing it.  Whether you agree or not it's just passionate people trying to make the world a better place.  We need more of that if you haven't noticed.

I'm not an aging hippie, sorry to disappoint your stereotype.

Sorry to disappoint you again but I'm not going to cry about these posts.

"First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win."      - Gandhi

From my viewpoint it looks like we're going from the laugh to fight stage so it won't be long know.  Of course ironically it's the meat companies doing more damage than PETA could ever dream of doing with their radical change in how they produce meat.  Steroids, hormones, "added natural flavors" (meat flavored perfume), and massive antibiotics injections.  These have driven away more than PETA could ever dream of converting.

Re: PETA and Kentucky Fried Chicken

If you only care about the rain-forests, factories, etc., then get people to eat organic meat instead of just saying don't eat meat altogether. What's next, forcing tigers in the wild to eat tofu instead of hunting for animals?

Re: PETA and Kentucky Fried Chicken

I don't know if you expected everyone here to bash on Vegitarians/Vegans just because of the things you guys eat.

All I know is that I have sharp teeth in front, and dull in the back. I'm an omnivore, and even if humans are on evolution's way to losing meat-eating teeth and other body parts (the appendix is/was for digesting raw meat, iirc?) I still have them for now, and will use them to all my ability.

shrug

As far as the whole steroids and all that in mass-produced meat, I think it's nasty, but at the rate McDonald's is buying rat.. erm.. beef, I guess the companies need to keep up somehow.

Sure LennonWasRight (!) PETA are just "passionate people"... let's review a few cases of their documented "passions" ...
-Splashing red paint on womens' private property (fur coats)
-Burning down private biology laboratories
-Pounding steel spikes in trees (which injury or kill loggers)
-Putting furiers/fur farmers out of business
-Closing midwest chicken farms/putting several families on welfare

Yeah those PETA freaks are "passionate"; they're also terrorists and many in this nation are just as "passionate" to see their organization 'extinct' and their eco-terrorism fully prosecuted!

PTTA=People Eating Tasy Animals, or PETA=People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

Im J/K, no offense was ment to any vegitarians, or vegans, or anyone else.  Personally i dont eat KFC, but only because i think their chicken tastes like crap.  I do, however, eat chicken, as well as several other meats.

BTW: my roommate had a copy of our billboard in ou room, but it's in spanish ...so cant read the text.  The Kearnel does look funny hacking off that chicken head tho, i guess.

Very funny arguments.  PETA hasn't done any of these things.  People, some of who belong to PETA, have.  Did we arrest the entire Michigan Militia when those freaks bombed the federal building in Oklahoma City?  No, cause as ignorant, racist, and hate-filled as they are they didn't do it.  Members of their organization did it.  Some PETA members have gone too far and the pro-corporate media has demonized all PETA members for it.  Funny how Fox News and others didn't call for the heads of the Michigan Militia after hundreds of dead American men, women, and children.  But throw some red paint and you're a terrorist!  Don't get me started on the misguided Christians who bomb abortion clinics.  do you also call them terrorists?  Does Fox News?  Does Rush and his imitators?
Heck no!  That's who listens, at least people who are in a way sympathetic to the cause.  But they actually kill innocent people.

I need a link of the loggers who lost their life, not baseless charges.

By the way chicken farmers are losing their jobs because of free trade, not PETA.  So blame George Bush and his love of unrestricted trade agreements, not an animal rights group.

Furriers and fur farmers need to be out of business.  Old hags who wear furs need to wake up.  It's a vile, disgusting, trade that tortures animals.  Not kills them, tortures.  Sorry, but it's true.

Burning down private biology labs.  Let's not pretend that they are all working on a cure for cancer or aids.  Never condoned by PETA, never carried out by PETA.  ALF on the other hand......

Re: PETA and Kentucky Fried Chicken

That's not really fair.

If the NY Knicks got into a fight with a Canadian hockey team, it wouldn't be "America attacks Canada, Eh?" but a couple Americans that attacks another select few Canadians.

Now, whether these actions were actually sanctioned by PETA, is a whole different story.

Does PETA publish a list of officially-sanctioned tactics?  I saw PETA members throwing red paint on old ladies leaving St. Peter's Cathedral last year...mine own eyes witnessed this! No hearsay, no mistakes, no second-hand stories.

You want to talk about fairness? Let's talk about personal property and the legal rights therein!

libertarians?
i'm sure each of the above groups has members who get carried away and do stupid things, but you dont call all members of those groups nutcases...

You want to talk about fairness? Let's talk about personal property and the legal rights therein!

People who torture and kill animals as small children are isolated, sent to therapy and targeted as future serial killers.  Adults who do it are called fur farmers.  If getting some paint on you is the worst thing that happens in your life consider yourself lucky.  Would I do that, no, nor do I condone it, but really calling them terrorist is really sick.  I know the media bring on corporate apologists who want to label them as such for shock value to win people to their side.  This level on cynicism is frankly disgusting in light of Sept. 11.  Playing off this tragedy in order to revive the fur trade is disgusting

Personal property rights are not the issue, animal rights are.  Animals already have some rights.  You can't go pick up puppies and kittens from the pound for target practice with your AK47, no matter how much Charlton Heston whines.  We as a society see that as cruel and unlawful.  If the country knew how fur coats and veal are made it would also be seen as cruel and unlawful.  That's what PETA is doing.  Bringing to light what the fur, meat, whaling, and animal experiment people desperately want to keep secrete.  Why not show people beating baby seals with clubs at the stores that sell their coats?  Because people would refuse to buy it on moral grounds.  People extend rights and morals to animals.  The debate is over how much rights do animals have and how is a moral way to treat them.

So you never said if the Michigan Militia or the fundamentalist Christians are terrorist.   Please answer the whole post.  I know you righty-tightys like to take your one quote out of context and twist it, but leave that up to the professionals, they're much better at it.

Re: PETA and Kentucky Fried Chicken

If PeTA had its way, no one would be allowed to own pets. No birds, mice, gerbils, snakes, dogs, cats. None. They would have them roam the streets and make laws against interfering with their activities. They would have the same rights as Humans which means the second one attacks a child because it wasn't trained not to, it would be put in jail. Sheesh. I don't know about you, but I like my dog. She likes me. My brother likes his snake. We like our cat. smurf you, PeTA. I'm keeping my pets.

I like my hot dogs. I like my chicken soup. I like my cheese puffs. I like meat and dairy and food. Sosumi! I'm human!

To sum that up: PETA is doing a good job.

And yes there are more humane ways to kill chickens. One way, do NOT boil them alive in hot oil. Another, do not set a them on the floor and kick their heads off into a bucket.
