Can't connect to wireless network -- PLEEEZE help!

At home, I connect my iBook to the internet through AirPort, using a G4 tower as the base station.  No problems at all.  But I'm visiting my brother and he has an all-PC wireless network; they connect to the internet wirelessly, using an EtherFast(?) router as the base station.  Here's the deal:  I can _see_ the network just fine, but when I try to connect and am prompted for the password (which I have, of course), I'm told my password is wrong.  I've even gone into the router's config program (using one of the windows machines) and turned WEP off, just to see if that mattered, and I still get the same problem.  Please tell me what to do -- this is making my Mac look bad! confused

Re: Can't connect to wireless network -- PLEEEZE help!

I didn't try that, because I don't have an Ethernet cable with me.  Do you think it's worth picking one up?  I was hoping that there was a way I could do this without that much trouble.

The LinkSys console described in the knowledge base article looks _very_ similar to what I see when I try to configure the router on my brother's pc, though.

I'm still open to any suggestions...

Not sure about not being able to connect to the base wireless but those directions are for setting up the base initially with only a macintosh, since the PC's on the network already have access to the config pages a cord would be a waste of money.  With WEP off does it still ask you for a password?  You may also try changing the channel, my linksys only worled on 1-6 with my TiBook.

It does ask me for a password no matter what.  I'll give the channel thing a shot, though -- currently it's on channel 8.

Thanks,
Dieter
