New Westlake Projects, Updates!

Well, Dungeon Siege has gone to Beta (ohhhh... drool), and The Chosen One was Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003. Halo's up to prototype now, so that's good too.

But we've got some new projects. Don't these people sleep?

Zoot Suit

Leading Light

Cellar

What could they be? Zoot Suit? Some sort of funky criminals? Leading light? Torch... searchlight... stage actors... no idea... Cellar? Who can tell?

Theories? Comments (on the new titles, and maybe Dungeon Siege - please don't focus on that controversial game)?

It's a good time to be a Mac gamer...

Hmmm, I wonder if Zoot Suit has anything to do with that Mafia game for PC. Extended PLay gave is a really good review. I would love to see something like that. It was set in the 30s

Re: New Westlake Projects, Updates!

That would be a little obvious wouldn't it?

Come on, give us harder names!

I am just hoping that one is SimCity 4. It is too early for DX2. Does anyone know what is going on with Unreal II? One of them will probably be SimsOnline.

The funny thing is that I know the real names of the projects we're working on, and I'm having a hard time drawing the connections to the codenames. wink

I just got word that Aspyr announced MOH:Spearhead, so I'm guessing that's one of them, probably the one that supports 9 and 10 - but I don't know for sure.

Brad - just out of curiosity, do you guys work 9-5, or (as it seems, based on the number of projects) 8am-8pm?

I know you're half-joking, but there is some small kernel of truth there.

We all work out of our houses, so we don't really work fixed hours. Our pay is "milestone" based, which means we get paid when he hit "alpha", "beta" or whatever the project contract stipulates. I don't have a set schedule for my day, but typically I wake up anywhere from 8-10am and work throughout the day. Sometimes I work late into the evenings and run errands in the afternoon, othertimes not. It all kinda depends on what needs doing at the moment, and how burned-out (or not) we are.

Re: New Westlake Projects, Updates!

Now, this theory is a bit out there, but...

Could Zoot Suit be a project once taken on by the biggest Mac gaming company, now outsourced for completion? Of course, the project was Pimps at Sea.

Yes... it all fits...

Some speculation at IMG is interesting.

Thoughts of mine... Leading Light... hmmm... well, the first light was stolen from the Olympian Gods by Prometheus. That was in the Age of Mythology...?

Cellar... could be a game about wine making (the strategy of putting in the vines, the action of harvesting the grapes, the violence of pulping the grapes, a first-person view of barrelling them and the long boredom of waiting for a few years for the juice to ferment and mature to wine).

Or it could be something with a connection to a basement... Maybe a game like "Lambs" that I saw on South Park recently ("it puts the lotion on its skin").

Ideas, people?

Leading light was already revealed as Spearhead.

So we're still okay for Pimps at Sea then?

Pimps at Sea...how could we forget so soon?

And- my God- an update! New "Turn Them Out(tm)" technology...

It can't be anything else.

Re: New Westlake Projects, Updates!

Well, Leading Light was MOH:Spearhead, and Cellar was Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Cellar ... Chamber ... yeah, I suppose I should've guessed. I'd have thought a more toilet-related reference was coming for this game though.

I'm still quietly confident that Zoot Suit is Pimps at Sea.

With the new 'Turn Them Out' technology, I'll be able to bring characters from other games in, pimp them up and play them. I'm looking forward to it greatly.

Re: New Westlake Projects, Updates!

Uh, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets was Writers Block #1 (#2 being Sims Unleashed).  Where did you get that Cellar was Chamber when Chamber was revealed several weeks ago?

Re: New Westlake Projects, Updates!

D'oh!

My page only half loaded, Chamber of Secrets was in red and I made an assumption.

I don't really like the way Safari doesn't load pages well if other things are going on.

Cellar is still out there, a mystery...

What could it be? Maybe my earlier idea of a gripping game based around wine making?

Re: New Westlake Projects, Updates!

Hmmm... Zoot Suit rhymes with "moot root," refering to the irrelevance of having a root user, who is the one true real user of OS X, soooo...

UNREAL 2!

Okay, okay... Leading Light translated to Japanese is 一流ライト, where each character is one away from 非現実的な2, which of course is

UNREAL 2!

And finally, Cellar respelled is CLReal, and L is two letters away from N, and C turned on its side would make...

UNREAL 2!

Might be worth a separate thread with poll...

"In Pimps At Sea, what characters would you import for your stable?"

Elexis from SiN? That gal from Dungeon Keeper II? Big-eyed, small-mouthed anime chicks? Harry Potter?

Umm...that might be too much information.
