Christmas Swag!
Well, um...my parents weren't exactly on the train this year. They gave me an Atkins diet cookbook and another Atkins book. (Gee, I just had a baby a few months ago...thanks. Love ya'll too. )
If that wasn't bad enough, they gave me a third crockpot. Which is truly sad because I just got myself a second one at the day after Thanksgiving sales at which my mother was with me.
God, I love them, but I wish they had spent the time in line to return the gifts instead of me.
Who else got gift they had to return this year?
PS- I don't mean to sound materialistic or ungrateful at all. I love them dearly and I'm glad they were thinking of me. I just wish they'd been a *tad* more thoughtful.

Re: Christmas Swag!
Mom got us some luggage we didn't need. We are going on a trip later in May and she wasn't sure if we had luggage. Nice thought, thank you mom.
The bullsmurf thing is that it was bought at Target with cash. We wanted cash back, but NO we're stuck with the gift card. Damn it! Target has nothing I want/need right now.

Re: Christmas Swag!
Let's see... I've made my democratic views against the current war pretty clear to my parents, but they got me a calendar full of armed forces pictures. Some are decent; a father coming home from abroad and hugging his daughter for instance. However, most are big expensive war machines and the like. Thanks, mom.
Then I got a used metal detector. Thanks, dad.
Oh, and let's not forget the laser level. No idea why I got that.

Re: Christmas Swag!
ok, so I took everything back that needed to go back. I got some holiday toys for next year's stocking stuffers, a leap frog leap pad for the little one in a few months and some half-off decorations for the house for next year. All in all, I still have about $100.00 in gift cards to Media Play and Wal-Mart combined. Not too shabby, but again, I wish they'd been more thoughtful.
I guess it's better than the poor kid whose father I saw in the Quick-E Mart on Christmas Eve, though. Not like the holiday snuck up on him....it happens once a year on the same day every year. *sigh* There I go being judgmental, again. Gotta stop that one of these days.

Re: Christmas Swag!
Okay, I kinda fibbed. Dad told me I didn't have to take the metal detector, so I didn't. In its stead, he handed me a $200 check. That, I think, is a pretty decent haul. When I got off work this afternoon, I bought myself a new CD binder, a spindle of DVD-Rs, and a nifty little package of Halo 2 action figures. I've got 2 Master Chiefs, one red and one blue, both perched over my desk watching me type this. Heh.
I'm still waiting to do Xmas with my fianc

I got several things, but the bestest was from my dad.
A ca 1921 Gruen Semithin pocketwatch, with original fob chain and a little bitty single-blade pocketknife attached.
it was my grandfather's railroad watch (he worked for B&O).
so. damn. cool. it's simply beautiful.
if I can find my digital camera, I'll post a pic.
please don't come back to 54

I got an Xbox that was DOA, and Gamestop hasn't responded to our eMail yet.

Re: Christmas Swag!
I'm alive.
Spent 6 days at my mom's place on the west coast of florida with my wife and daughter. Got a Nintendo DS with Super Mario 64 DS and Spiderman 2 from the wife, this T-shirt from my sister, and a few other knick-knacky things from others. Gave my wife an iPod Photo. Grandma watched my daughter and my wife and I went to Busch Gardens in Tampa alone on Sunday, it was a little chilly but there was no wait at all on all of the coasters.
The greatest gift of all was learning that my stepfather's brother and a few other relatives survived the tsunami. They were at a resort in Phuket, Indonesia during the wave, but made it out safely and my step-uncle managed to save an elderly man during the disaster.

Re: Christmas Swag!
Wow! Altivec, that's great news indeed. My heart really goes out to all those families.
Og, that sounds like an awesome gift. I've got all the heirloom jewlry in the family. Goes from eldest daughter to eldest daughter. My aunt was a little heart broken, so I told her to pick out what she was most sentimental about and shared with her. It's only fair, I figured.
Brain, do you want the Pee Wee's playhouse Christmas special? We are selling it at work, previously veiwed. I'd be happy to mail it to you if so. I think it's 10 bucks. Don't know how much it would be new. Frankly, I'm shocked anyone would want anything Pee Wee.

Cool, Altivec. You're the first person I know that's got a personal tsunami story.
My family doesn't exchange gifts amongst the adults to avoid the very problem mentioned above.
The kids usually make out pretty good though.
