Quicktime questions
Ok, I've always wondered a few things about quicktime...
1. Why do they refuse to include very common encodings, such as divx?
2. Is quicktime really the leader in internet movie stuff?

Re: Quicktime questions
1) I don't think they refuse. Apple doesn't need other people's technologies.
2) Yes.
Of course the above statements are mines and mines only. The opinions and views heard may not be those of MacAddict, its licensees, management nor staff.

Re: Quicktime questions
1) DivX is (i believe) Microsoft's pirated, polluted form of MPEG-4. Apple is completely compliant with the MPEG-4 standard, so working with DivX would be compared to treason.
2) Yup. Something like 60%, although DivX controls the..."seedier" side of the Net.
To be equal you have to add or subtract. And I have never liked math. People who want to be equal's lives are filled with subtractions and auditions. We will call you back and tell you. - MM

OK OK, but I did say "i believe". MS does have some form of that, don't they?
So what is it then.
btw instead of including divx support, Apple should push QT to everyone making it the standard completely.

1. Most divxs play in QT Player, especially after you run them through any number of apps which fix the sound track bug.
2. Depends on how you would define 'leader.'
