Re: Those rubber bracelets

Although I support Lance's cancer foundation... rubber bracelets are definitely not cool anymore.

They've turned into a trendy fashion statement, and that's most non triumphant.

Re: Those rubber bracelets

The money goes to help families of cancer victims.

Be careful. Most of the one's they're selling now probly don't do smurf for cancer victims. Certainly not the ones F041 is looking for.

The ones in 7-11, certainly not. There are bootleg versions all over the place. I think if you get a real one, though, actually from Livestrong, you'll be helping people.

Of course, no one is wearing these to help cancer victims. You can donate to a charity to do that.  No one's wearing these to show off that they helped people either. The fact that they've helped someone might be part of the justification to buy one, I guess.

My friend raised several thousand dollars did a 200 mile bike ride for charity this summer. She actually helped people and doesn't wear one of these stupid bracelets.

This is the only one of these bracelets I'd wear:

Re: Those rubber bracelets

Goddamit, I love hemp necklaces. You bastards.

Damn right.  My girlfriend just made a few with a macrame kit.

My hemp necklace has three femo (sp?) beads with a gecko on each one. It's awesome. But I don't wear it anymore, because the clasp broke, and although I kinda made a makeshift rubber band clasp, I'm still afraid it'll fall off, and I'll lose it forever.

Take it from someone who worked for a few years at a retail art supply store. It's Fimo clay which is baked in your household oven.

Geckos are awesome! Oddly enough I have a gecko that I sculpted out of Fimo hanging from a hook in my bathroom! Coincidence? I don't think so!
