Jeb Bush Predictions
Everybody in the media seems to be predicting that Jeb is going to be the Republican candidate in 4 years. They say he's smarter than W (that's not so hard to be -- even I'm smarter than W). They say he's more ethical.
Seems to me, just a hunch (no I can't prove it), that such predictions never pan out. I don't think Jeb has a future as anything but senator or governor or homeland security chief (when they can't find anyone for Bernie Kerick's non- job).

The thing about media predictions is you never hear about them again if they are wrong. Same thing happens when a hyped story turns out to be not what it was potrayed as.

True speculation or not, I don't think the US wants a dynasty running the place.

Re: Jeb Bush Predictions
The same people making these predictions are, I suspect, the same people who've been predicting Hillary's "any day now" run as the Democratic nominee.
It all depends on what sort of shape the Republican party is in come 2006 or so. If things are going well, I think Jeb as a good chance. If there's a lot of infighting, then probably not.
Personally I think things would have to be going very well indeed for George W. for Jeb to get in there. In truth, even the Repubs are likely to be sick of the Bushes a couple of years from now.
One thing for sure: we can pretty much rule out Neil.

If it's not gonna be Jeb it's gonna be Schwarzenegger.
And speaking of the Democrats, what about Barack Obama? He says he's eager to run.

No Arnie.
When did Obama say anything other than he wants to learn the ropes as junior Sen. and serve the people of IL?

Under the constitution, you can only be president if you were born in America. Arnie wasn't.

Its not something they actively look for, just another statute to tack on to the prosecution of the weirdos out there.

Re: Jeb Bush Predictions
If there is a conservative Republican backlash against the neo-cons, I expect Jeb Bush will not be the candidate of choice.
As far as changing the rules to permit non American-born people to be elected president, it could happen in this term, but it will be accompanied with a rule change to allow more than two consecutive terms. If the neo-con agenda withstands conservative Republican pressure, then the last person they'd want is someone like Arnold; they'd want their George W Bush back in the office.

and the women come out to cut up what remains,
just roll to your rifle and blow out your brains,
and go to your god like a soldier...

No, it can't be done this term. It normally takes years, since it has to be approved by state legislatures as well as Congress. At this point, the amendment hasn't even been written yet (that we know of).
No Ahnuld in 2008. Maybe by 2016, if he hasn't died of steroid-related health issues by then.

Steroids usually only cause health issues if you chronically abuse them. Mild use doesnt cause that much harm.

They wasted the governments time debating and passing the law... time that could be spent on more productive things.

If there was debate on this law, I would be more worried about that.

That's my point exactly if we had Arnold for President he would waste time and money on bullsmurf instead of bigger things like war on drugs , iraq war, etc.

Arnold's use was anything but mild. You've got to be kidding the guy was a serious habitual user for many years. That's how he got where he is, illegal drugs. Good lesson for the nations youth.
George H. W. Bush left office the most unpopular president of this century. You always try to out do your dad.
