Apple majorly targeting education with PowerBooks..??
i was just digging around on the apple store, logged in for the education prices.... and i noticed that the Powerbook lineup has the largest educational discount.... $300.00 off... everything else has MAYBE $200.00. i think the g3 ibooks days are numbered, and a low number at that... if the g3 ibook was still going to be the flagship for the education market, then shouldn't it have the largest discount? just a thought...

Uh, it is usually a percentage. So the 3300 AlBook would have a big discount...

Actually I just checked and the tower with the same price as the AlBook 17" is 30 bucks cheaper. So, the answer is no.

Yeah, I thought it was a percentage and that it also depends on the school. Some schools have special deals. I remember there was someone around here who got Jaguar for $8 from their university.

Re: Apple majorly targeting education with PowerBooks..??
I had ordered the 17 PB, and there was a nice little academic discount. Then I went back in 2 weeks later, and in error, did another order as a puchaser for the College, and the 17 PB was about $2950 or about $180 less then the student academic discount(these are not the exact prices, but close enough). I called Apple and they would not budge on giving me the lower price. So I cancelled the 17 PB and ordered the 12 PB instead. It really suits me better at this time. I can beef up on applications, and then next year or year and a half, see what the Power Mac line has to offer, which is just about the time I will be finished with college. In the interim, I will sell my Indigo iBook, keep my 15 FP iMac, unless I get a really good offer for it, and be almost satisfied.
The Apple financing , or limit they give you, determines what I can buy. So I could not get everything I wanted with the 17 PB. Just the tax alone, is between $200-$300, and that could be one nice application or as an example; Airport Extreme Base Station.
