Re: The New Special Events Thread

Well, this weekend's special event certainly was well-received, and hopefully will become a regular thing. If "Halo Officers vs." were on, say, weekends 1 & 3 of the month, what should we have on 2 and 4?

Maybe not for both, but perhaps for one of the weekends.  The other should be...team practice?   A-team vs. B-team so us lowly gremlins can challange all you gods of the game?  I don't know how many people we get on average weekends, so I'll get back to ya on this.

A team vs. B team games aren't going to get anywhere.  You have to have even teams so that instead of getting killed every 15 seconds by our top players, you have a chance to stay alive for a decent amount of time and actually play.

Re: The New Special Events Thread

I suggested "Officers vs <insert challenger's team here>" be a monthly event in the other thread.
Twice a month would be nice, but I think coming up with a new team every 2 weeks is a bit much.

Also, it strikes me how similar this sounds to Bungie's Halo Humpday Challenge.

Twice a month! Twice a month!  As I just told Icks, that was quite possibly the sickest, awesomest, kick-the-most-assedest thing that [MA] Halo has done yet.  ::does the chest banging thing with teammates::

Re: The New Special Events Thread

Considering the officers are nearly half the regulars, coming up with team variations could be a little tricky.

I think Overpower every other month would be fun, or even every month.  Maybe some 1v1 grudge matches to allow for some (well behaved) spectators.

Like, I would be willing to grapple with Bat all by myself.  And then like Ear vs. Trout and some 2v2 matches could be added.  Oooh!  We could do tournaments and have someone draw up a play order.  But the Mods vs. MA never really worked out so that needs to get settled, and then we could have random grudgematches, and if people develop real grudgematches then so be it.

I don't see how, Small.

Otherwise, many good ideas to sift thru and try.

Such modesty hmm ...but yes, you did die a lot and lead in that at least once; I sent that screen and a couple more. Someone's not checking his gmail. Convert to .jpeg and post?

Twice a month seems doable in some form, I think. Levi's in, Sumi's in; there's Small and Zander and Digi; maybe even Cryptic. "Team Sumi" could have a somewhat variable roster.

Many good possibilities. We needn't be limited to a one month cycle either; one complete event rotation every 6 weeks is open- say, "Officers vs." every other or every 3 weeks; other types filing up the rotation. It'd be even easier if Overpower didn't crash Macs every map change; then it could be combined in a rotation.

Let's keep working on it, and maybe schedule an interim event for this weekend. DD is being called for a lot (BC in particular guarantees attendance if not too late at night).

Oh, and allowing spectators opens the possibility of recording matches, particularly duellos; that way I could have a better record of humiliating, um, "certain opponents." big_smile

I noticed. I figured it was in the hopper with the other suggestions. I'm fine with it, sounds like fun.

Got the model and sound effects right?
