Re: What Speakers do you use or enjoy?
I've been using Bose Companions for awhile, they sound great. No woofer, just a 2.0 system, but fine for a small dorm desk, and I don't need that much bass. I've alo been listening to Logitech's Z3e system, it's 2.1, and sounds very good.

Sure sure, you just keep telling yourself that.

Re: What Speakers do you use or enjoy?
After seeing the praises for the Logitech 680, I went out yesterday and got a set of the Logitech 230 (680 is no longer available, AFAIK). Seems to be a nice set: 2.1, the speakers can be mounted on the wall as well as sit on the desk, good bass.
They cost me $50, which is the most I will pay - if I invest more, it's going to a 5.1 system for the TV!
Aw, he's no fun, he fell right over.

Re: What Speakers do you use or enjoy?
I would've gotten the Bose set with the woofer, but it wasn't out yet when I got these speakers. As for seemingly being the only guy in a dorm who doesn't use a woofer, call me crazy I guess. If anyone wants to send me some $$ so I can buy a new set of speakers, please post here!

Klipsch Promedia 2.1 system. The black ones that don't look weird. $150 from best buy and they are damn good speakers. Possibly the best 2.1 for that price.
I got a set of those, too and absolutely love 'em!

I use Boston Acoustic speakers. I wouldn't trade them for anything.

Klipsch Promedia 2.1 system.
Prolly the best buy for it's price, the sub isn't block-rockin, but the sound balance is pretty good
(unlike bose speakers which are a little too heavy on the base.)
$115 is a pretty sweet price for the sound it pumps out.

[elitist] I don't use speakers. I use studio monitors[/elitist]
I have a pair of Mackie HR824 studio monitors. I'd put them up against anything except maybe some comparably-sized Genelecs (that would cost twice as much but sound nowhere near twice as good) or some custom-made boutique monitors.

Right now, just the ball speakers that came with my Cube (the predecessors to the Apple Pro Speakers). I'm kind of on the lookoutfor a set of USB SoundSticks, but they don't seem to pop up for sale very often.

couldnt diagree more. My Bose Wave set has anything but bass compaired to most 2.1 system. They are very impressive for thier size but not as good as a real 2.1 set up

Re: What Speakers do you use or enjoy?
I don't know if then still sell those, but I have a Harman/Kardon's Soundstick with the sub. Extremely cool design, and really good sound for a 2 speakers and 1 sub sound system. The only con is that you can't get the volume as high as I would expect. But, I know that if the volume gets beyond this point, there will be distortion in the sound rather than I smooth and rich sound. My two cents.

I picked up a set of those for free (love the discover cash back bonus) and they are pretty good. Not the best for the price, but they look nice and have good sound. I'm also not into wall shakingly loud music anyway.

Re: What Speakers do you use or enjoy?
an aiwa CX-NAJ70... 2 speakers, input into the "TV/ Video" setting on the minisystem. via a minijack to RCA splitter. one speaker on the floor on the right of the computer, one on the left. good sound.
but they dont make it anymore, and i've heard the bass in their newer systems isn't as good as the one i have.(both speakers have powered subwoofers(speaker cable) and rca hookups on the minisystem)

Tannoy (studio monitors) Active Reveals at work, with a Mackie 1402VLZ inbetween.
Peavey Studio Monitors at home, with a Soundcraft Spirit Folio Lite 12ch mixer.
2 channel sound never sounded better.

I have those too and they are huge, loud, and sound great for the money. Like you said, though, the only reason I bought 'em is because I couldn't afford Genelecs. For mixing they sound a bit tubby in the low end.
