Wait! Now There's Too Much Filtering!
So do we have an "all or nothing at all" choice regarding profanity?
I, for one, enjoy cursing. I don't believe it limits one's vocabulary, I think it adds emotion -- admittedly raw emotion.
I know that this is a work in progress, but dammit! I wanna cuss!!
Perhaps I'll have to resort to &*%$^$!!!

Why cant filtering be an option?
Labeling certain words as "obscene" is really bizarre when you think about it.
For instance, "defecation" refers to bodily waste same as "smurf," yet one is considered bad manners to use and one is not. Mind you, "smurf" was not a slang word in origin, its root is the same one that gives us the words "science" and "scythe" and carries the idea of separation; "science" is the separation of truth from non-truth, while "smurf" is the separation of living matter from non-living matter.

In all likelihood the filter will return as an option, but for now it's all or nothing so as to preserve the more delicate sensibilities. No big deal.

thanks for putting the smurfing word filters back in. this smurf is much better. i can say whatever the smurf i want without worrying about corrupting some little smurfhead 13 year old. it was a bitch to not swear for a few days, but i did it without being an smurf, asshat, assclown, smurf, smurf, or a whiney bitch.
ok now i'm just putting the filters through their paces.....
EDIT: And the filters failed horribly!!!!!!! you got lots of words to add before this place will be safe for the little children.

I thought I was out of my smurfing mind that some people were using smurf, then I went to check my firetruckin' profile. Then I came here.
I don't really care about seeing profanity or not...but seeing smurfing is funny.

I don't know what the smurf you're talking about. They seem to have worked just fine.

WEIRD- oatmeal- on my screen the only words that were filtered was fu.. and sh..
all my compound words like "smurf" weren't filtered at all. and the word bitch.
but when you quoted what i wrote, all the bad words were filtered..... why?
EDIT: ok when i reload the page, the filters catch EVERY word like it did when you quoted my post.... but the first time i view the page it only filters fu.. and sh..
