Re: Wait! Now There's Too Much Filtering!
this was a test

Re: Wait! Now There's Too Much Filtering!
We could filter an infinite number of crazy character combinations or alternate spellings, but that's a never ending battle. For circumventing the filter in that fashion, you get warned. I don't care if you curse, as long as you don't go to lengths to bypass the filter.
Hard work may not kill you, but why take chances?

We're not supposed to filter-dodge; what's the point?

Hey GUI, are you going to install an optional filter? Haven't heard the latest.

Re: Wait! Now There's Too Much Filtering!
There's a point where trying to filter every random combination of characters that resembles a swear word just isn't worth the effort. If people are going to try that hard to dodge the filters, they're the ones that end up looking foolish. Otherwise, we'll end up with an unmanageable filter list.
Look at it this way: you've sold as many paintings as Van Gogh—and you have both your ears.
Thanks, Dad.

Re: Wait! Now There's Too Much Filtering!
Smurf is the best verb ever.
Also, I was the one who first asked publicly to make the filters optional. I was happy to see it happen, as were others. Filter dodging essentially came to a halt. I'm sure it will happen again. Give GUI some freakin' time here!

Perhaps I misphrased that. You're not getting warned. Just in general.

I'd also like to say that this whole thing sucks. What was wrong with the old one, again?

that brings up a question- without PMs how do people get warned that they are out of line?

PM > e-mail for Web forums, where anonymity is something of a virtue.

Yeah. You can hide it from everyone but mods and admins, though.

I'd keep it hidden anyway, just to avoid spambots. The problem with using e-mail instead of PM is that your e-mail address (and real name, depending on how you set up your e-mail account) is revealed to whomever you're trying to contact; that's nowhere near as anonymous as a proper PM system.
