Keyboard wackiness in pbook
A friend's 17" 10.3.2 has recently begun exhibiting wacky behaviour: the keyboard is mixing up characters. For example, pressing the []\ keys produces [b]^

Im having the same problem with my g3 ibook i just got. I've done the same things to try and fix it but it still wont work. Would installing a newer o/s work?

I think what has happened is that the keyboard is on a different country setting.
If I select Canadian(CSA) profile in the international Preference, then in the Input Settings, I get the same thing, so just go into preferences, international, input settings and select "U.S" or whatever kind of keyboard you are using.hope that helps

tried that, didnt help. Any other suggestions? im thinkin, if my ibook can handle it, just format it and install the new os (panther is it called?). maybe that will work.

That's pretty drastic. At least check compatibility before with 10.3 before wiping the drive.
I'd suggest booting from a CD and testing the issue, but I can't think of an app on an OSX bootable CD which allows/requires you to type anything. You could boot from an OS9 CD if you have one - then you could launch simpletext or something similar and test with that.

I had a problem in my Pismo where the connector became loose and keys dropped out or emulated other keys. Re-seating the plug solved the problem. However in a 17", the keyboard may be fixed unlike most other powerbooks and ibooks.

In the case of my friend's pbook, it was the canadian/international prefs thing that was causing the problem.
