Trash Icon won't change.

I changed my trash icon a while back and I don't like it because it's transparent and disappears in the dock unless there's something in it. Then it looks like nothing recognizable.

Can anyone suggest a simple way to do it? The usual way is not working.
(OS 10.2.3)
