And most respectfully, Rukh, I still disagree.

PaveHammer"]and there are not enough of us teens out there who have aspirations, hell even a willingness, to join the military and serve this nation
oh you've got to be kidding me. join the military? do you realize how stupid of an idea that is?
this country is going to hell with bush at the helm. we have no place invading and occpupying iraq and afghanistan, and everyone knows it. you would have to kill me before you sent me out onto the field of battle, and i'd die either way, but at least that way i wouldn't have to do something i'm against.
and on a brighter note, i'd like to think i'm working towards making a difference in my future... i'm part of the harker robotics team, and we work on stuff for the FIRST Robotics Competition, which is ubercool
Thank you for proving my point Aonic

Re: Being a teen ain't easy
Pavehammer, you're absolutely right. There's so many idiots in this country it's incredible. Most of these people are so stupid, they can't even name the 3 branches of government. And they won't serve the country because they think the president is the country. So, if they don't like the preesident, they don't like anything else either. And to a-whatever: we have every right to go to war with iraq. saddam hussein is a liar, and is evil. hes a madman whos willing to kill as many people as he wants just because he feels like it.
BTW, in a purely hypothetical situation, if, in a year or 2, when im 18, if the US is atv war, and iam drafted, i will gladly serve. it is an honorable, great thing(not the death part) to die for one's country.

I have said this WAY too many times here:
The difference between good and evil is a sickness of the human mind.
And Styper, I think everybody feels like that.

Re: Being a teen ain't easy
[rambling]I personally would not join the US army. I have better thing to do with my life. If there was a major threat to my country I would join. Otherwise, I'm better of doing someting like mechanical engineering. BTW just because you are not in the Armed Forces does not mean you are not assiting in some way. The armed forces are only the tip of the iceberg that is any war machine.[endramble]

Re: Being a teen ain't easy
Hey, mechanical engineering, along with many of the other sciences and advanced humanities benefit this nation as much as those who lead our nation's soldiers into battle. What I have the problem with are those who say
"Oh, the army is stupid because George Bush is a monkey. I'm staying home and doing my thing." and then they get a job flipping burgers. Or dodge a draft and wind up with the burger job in canada.
And then those people poo-poo the soldiers that fight to protect the nation that lets those burger-flippers flip burgers.
This is by no means a condemnation of people who work in fast food restaurants, it's just a figure of speech.
Now, jkahless, hurry up and get through college and find new ways to save W'rkncacnter's and my lives

sorry, i didn't see a point in your original post, but since i proved it, good on ya
anyway, what i meant was that i think the current laws such as the "patriot" act are opressive and violate the constitution that our country is founded on. furthermore, the current administration, although has the right to go to war, has no proof that iraq has nukes, and therefore has no JUSTIFICATION to go to war, which means that, unless they give me a DAMNED good reason, i'm not gonna go out there and kill an iraqi to "serve my country."
and lack of aspirations? i don't think you've got the complete story. i've had aspirations since i was about 6 to "serve my country," but not on a field of battle. i want to serve the US for peaceful purposes, research and development of new space probes, maybe even becoming an astronaut.
if you want war, go right ahead, but i'll serve my country my own way, thankyouverymuch.

Oh, good. I was worried you were a hippie.
@ hippies
-Ok, now that we have that out of the way:
But, I'm glad to see that our opinions of politicians are equally disdainful. But I've always wanted to be a soldier, I'm not just jumping on this iraq thing. And if when I become one my orders send my to Iraq, I'll do my duty.
Just don't put me out of a job, mkay?

Dont join army, their food/housing sucks... the Air force on the other hand...
Flying butlers.
I'd join the Navy, but I'd probably go crazy crammed onto a ship.
I'll probably go the path of my Avatar
W'rkncacnter which branch you considering?

FIRST is Mac Cool. I'm on team 852 myself.

We're also somewhat screwed. 4 weeks, and we just started cutting parts.
Hope to see you at the Silicon Valley Regional!
