Fuzzyness on Viewsonic LCD

I got a Viewsonic LCD (VG191) and i can't get ride of a couple stuck pixles and some colors it has a hard time dealing with.  I have tryed to Calabrate and with noticable differnces, but it still is not completely gone!  Is there an easier way than to mess with the calibration? I think the Gamma setting is one of the bigest problems but i have that almost as good as it can be. any help would be great!

Thanks

Re: Fuzzyness on Viewsonic LCD

You may also try adjusting the resolution. anything below 1024x768 on an LCD looks blurry/fuzzy. I believe that is a 19" inch you have there, so probably you can set the resolution at 1280x1024 and that might take the fuzziness away.

Re: Fuzzyness on Viewsonic LCD

I have that resolution, I guess i worded the problem wrong.  The pixels, on some colors(shades), will project the wrong color. it is realy irritating.

Thanks

It is a viewsonic VG191 19"

Re: Fuzzyness on Viewsonic LCD

there is a small app called SuperCal at versiontracker that you can use to calibrate any monitor (CRT or LCD). Does a great job. You might wanna try it out and see if it fixes your problem. Also, make sure you have millions of colors selected to get the best colors possible.

Re: Fuzzyness on Viewsonic LCD

If i calibrate it using this supercal, it comes out about the same, i did get rid of most of the pixel spasms. But now it is a little foggy ..... maybe i am just picky...

Maybe. I guess everyone who is into colors (advertising, photography, gaming, etc.) is picky. But you can always get those $300+ apps and see if that fixes your problem... or you can live with this minor detail, use SuperCal free to fix most of your monitor problems, and save lots of dough. Your choice.

Re: Fuzzyness on Viewsonic LCD

One thing to clear up: An LCD has only 1 good (or "native") resolution. Anything else will look blurry.

Re: Fuzzyness on Viewsonic LCD

Are you using an analog or digital signal?  If you have the option, an lcd will look much better if you us a digital output from your mac.

Re: Fuzzyness on Viewsonic LCD

I am using Digital.

It auto sets to 1280 x 1024 and i like it, but if a game switches it to something else, i get a message telling me i should change it back.  I think it was designed for a PC. it is half as bad in PC gamma, but that is Dark and Windowsy and i can't stand it. I got the Gamma pritty good now. it only has trouble with the sides of brushed metal windows. And it is closer to native mac Gamma!!!!!! I think i am just going to have to deal.

There are 1 or 2 stuck pixels, is there a way to fix them?  big_smile

Re: Fuzzyness on Viewsonic LCD

I heard you can sometimes bring dead pixels back by rubbing them gently with a wooden toothpick. Never tried tho

My dysplay thought it was runing on a PC. so today my friend came over with a laptop (PC) and on;y had a VGA port and (i knew that it said PC but i did not think anything of it because in DVI you cannot change it) tryed to change it, It WORKED!!!!!!!! Now I can put Safari back on Brushed metal! (Brushed metal was the worst)

Re: Fuzzyness on Viewsonic LCD

sorry i did not explain to well.
I had already know that it dwas set to PC but i could not change it and did not think much about it (i did not want to go dig out the VGA cables) but when my friend came over with outdated technolagy on a newish laptop i had to go get the VGA cables and i though ummm maybe now i can change that PC setting with VGA to the Mac and sure enough when i came back to my mac almost all of the "fuzzyness" has gone away!

actualy now that i have had time to examen the brushed metal there is still a few specks in the top right conners, but verry easy to miss.

With calabration i can probably make the last of the specks go away, but i like the Mac standered gamma, Much higher and it seems to dark and PClike. Oh well, i don't see the specks on iTunes or iChat, just Safari because the window is so big.  I am realy happy i finaly had a break through! I could not see myself tolorating that much longer.

Thanks for the Help,
Jim
