The methods of science are manifestly effective, having made massive humanitarian contributions to society. It is this very effectiveness which the purveyors of mystical philosophies attack, because they recognise in it the chief threat to the belief-based source of their power and financial reward. -Harry Kroto, Nobel Laureate

I chuckled.
I could bore you with a philosophical tirade about freedom and tyranny, or try and explain to you what new horizons are suddenly open to me, but I doubt you would understand and if you did it might frighten you. That amuses me.

Maybe you need to go back and check whether it was a liberal or a conservative who posted pictures of the secretary of state to somehow prove a point.

Maybe it doesn't matter who posted it, said it or anything else, as it clearly has no bearing on her qualifications or ability to do the job.

Who posted pictures or who posted making fun of her clothing?
How far back you want to take this?

There is nothing, I repeat nothing, funny about the way Albright looks or dresses.
We're talking 'I'd rather switch teams, seriously not funny.

I know it doesn't have any bearing on her SoS qualifications but it seems that some people believe it's okay to try and use some unrelated pictures to try and prove a point, but when their argument is shot down or mocked for its absurdity they cry foul, that's all.

Just want to make sure you understand that I have no patience for people who base their opinions of someone's qualifications for a job (other than Star Search "female spokesmodel") on the person's looks. And I don't care if where they fall on the political continuum.

It's like that time you tried to stop all the neo-cons here from harping on Michael Moore's weight.
Oh, wait.....you didn't do that.

I'm not positive I was a party to whatever discussion to which you refer, but I have never referred to Michael Moore as anything but a misguided, disingenuous liar. I've never referred to his weight at all.
Did you jump to his defense about his weight? I highly doubt it.

thanks for explaining that racist comment!
Do you really have to have the word "master" explained to you in the context it was used? Don't be dense. Any other word could have been used, such as administrator, big cheese, big gun, boss, captain, chief, chieftain, commandant, commander, commanding officer, controller, director, employer, general, governor, guide, guru, head, head man, honcho, manager, numero uno, overseer, patriarch, pedagogue, preceptor, principal, ruler, skipper, superintendent, supervisor, swami, top dog, tutor, etc. But, no, the word "master" was used.
If you think that was unintentional you're awfully naive.

I'm still not sure how the word "master" is exclusively connected to racial issues...?
Me thinks you're going off the deep end....

Re: Take that, Condi!
It's incredibly stupid to talk about Condi in terms of her appearance (and, for the love of God, her choice of outfits). Especially people who complain about rightie-tighties joking about Michael Moore's weight -- gee, waytta equate the two!
I'm definitely no fan of hers, but for God's sake, can we keep it even a bit substantive?
If not, at least be fair. What do we think of Dubya's choice of ties?

To me, it's just so depressing that "Master And Commander: The Far Side of the World" won Oscars. It just goes to show the deep seated racism in Hollywood.
And to think that I actually enjoyed that film as well. I am such a complete and utter racist.
Oh, and I used to play "Mastermind" back in the day. Heck, it's still available online: http://www.archimedes-lab.org/atelier.h … rmind.html
Oh the racism! Will we ever learn just to love each other?

Pray tell why? A certain *someone" named Farmerkev wrote that there was "nothing, I repeat nothing, funny about the way Albright looks" so I provided an illustration. Is that now illegal, immoral, or fattening? And shouldn't you post something on topic rather than ad hominem?
