Re: RTCW: ET Server up & running - Map/Mod request thread

Slight change made...server is now public with 16 slots total, 8 are reserved with the same password above.

FYI: Server has been up for a few hours but still not showing in the master list.

Well it's showing up now, and looking great! Don't know about maps and mods yet - Fuel Dump is a great map, but it's already in the Europe rotation.

I'm hoping that by the end of next week my little band of 5 might be up to 7/8, all of us new to et, so if you guys fancy a game, we'll be well up for it smile

Re: RTCW: ET Server up & running - Map/Mod request thread

Wow, I guess I have been out of the loop for a while. I didn't even know they were going to make a Mac version of ET, let alone it being completed!  Now I'm going to have to download it for my PC and check it out!

Update:  I'm going to test mac compatibility with shrubet and etpro during the day today, mostly for the purpose of having your XP saved across map changes & to make administration eaiser.

Re: RTCW: ET Server up & running - Map/Mod request thread

can someone help me out with all the mods and junk? Like whats shrubET (obviously shrub for et, but what differences are there)?  Being new to the game, I don't really have a referance as to whats "normal"

Re: RTCW: ET Server up & running - Map/Mod request thread

Well, I was on the server tonight and I didn't notice anything different - shrub for RTCW was server side only, so you shouldn't need to download it. As far as I can see most of the features of shrub were implemented in et anyway.

Got a suggestion Altivec - the game is great, and the server is fantastic but the mines are a pain in the butt - a guy can plant 4 mines before his power bar runs down, and it gets ridiculous. Somewhere in the config there should be a way to increase the amount of "power" it takes to set a mine. Reducing that would make it a much more balanced game.

Apart from that, brilliant!

I passed out this afternoon and didn't get a chance to do any testing.  I'll try again tomorrow.

The engineer recharge time is set to the default, and most servers that i've been to have it at the default (30 seconds from fully empty to fully recharged).  Changing the recharge time will affect all of the other engineer functions such as planting dyno and repairing/building command posts and other objectives.  I'll look into lowering the amount of mines that can be planted instead.

Re: RTCW: ET Server up & running - Map/Mod request thread

Well thanks for having a look anyway - the mine thing is just my personal opinion. The only thing is that they aren't visible like the RTCW Shrub ones were, meaning that if you're up against mine happy opposition, you spend 30 minutes seeing the rooftops, but very little time with your feet on the ground wink

Re: RTCW: ET Server up & running - Map/Mod request thread

Covert ops is your friend!  wink

I verified that etpub is compatible with the Mac version of ET, and appears to be updated on a regular basis.  I've installed it on the server.  Here are some of the settings that are now enabled:

Max player change:  Changed maxplayers from 16 to 18, left 8 private slots.

Limited mines:  Max # of mines that can be laid by any team changed from 10 to 6.

XPSave: XP is saved across campaigns, and even if you disconnect.  It's not forever, it appears that if 64 playerjoins occur between your logins then your XP isn't saved.  XP is also not saved if the server is restarted for any reason.  I'm going to look into restarting the server every 24 or 48 hours.

Goombakills:  Damage the enemy by jumping on top of them.

Private messages: send a message using /m <playername> <message>

Admin privs: I can give out partial admin levels to peeps on the server.  If you want admin rights, send me an email with your punkbuster GUID.

Hitsounds: Audio feedback when your bullets hit someone.

Shove:  Shove a teammate with the use key.

Play Dead:  /playdead in the console to play dead.

Corpse Dragging:  Same as the original shrub.

Class changing: You can change classes in a similar manner to how covert ops can take a uniform.  Stand over a teammates corpse, and hold down the use key.

Keep Flak Jacket across class changes:  If you make level 4 as an engineer, you keep the flak jacket if you change to a different class.

Improved hitboxes:  See http://et.tjw.org/etpub/hitboxes/ - Before is original ET, after is what the server is running.

Re: RTCW: ET Server up & running - Map/Mod request thread

Added 3 new maps:

Supply Depot - A 'steal the gold' map with objectives similar to goldrush.  Escort a truck inside the Axis supply depot, activate a crane to move gold to the truck, and escort the truck away to safety.  The depot Multiple entry points into the depot, teamwork is essential for Allies as the Axis Depot is heavily fortified.
Rommel - Desert-themed map.  Dynamite the entry doors to the Axis base, steal a keycard, use the card to open the gates to a cistern, and destroy the cistern controls.
Axis Lab - The Axis have constructed a nuclear weapon that the Allies must steal from their underground lab.  Escort a truck past barriers to the top of a hill and dynamite the entrance to the underground lab.  Navigate through the complex to the lowerfloors where the nuke is being held.  Destroy the blast doors and escort the nuke to a service elevator.  Take the elevator up to the top floor which is located in a building at the top of the hill.  Construct a ramp from the porch of the building to the truck, escort the nuke into the truck, and finally escort the truck back down to the allied spawn point.

All 3 maps are fairly large, with the exception of Supply Depot, and are on an HTTP redirect for fast downloads.  The maps have been added to a custom campaign with the remaining maps that come with ET.

Re: RTCW: ET Server up & running - Map/Mod request thread

Server seems to running great and appears to be attracting players!  I have noticed that we sometimes lose ppl when we go to the radar map.  My fps on the map makes it unplayable for me with my fisher-price 32 meg vid card.  Anyone else dislike this map?

Also, many mac people seem to be joining our server.  Should we go into recruiting mode for ET?  Perhaps we should hold votes in the old wolf.clanmacaddict.com site.  Should we enable the public forums on the site again with a disclaimer Alt?  Just a thought..
