Exactly what I hope does not happen. Pope John Paul was successful becuase he maintained the traditional dogma and kept the progressives within the Church on a short rein. We need not reform anything, except to deal with the pervasive secularism and the oppression that is so widespread, here in this nation and elsewhere...  loosening up traditional dogma will not help and will surely hurt.

You see it as "circus" since you have not taken up the sword of Christ to fight the attacks on the Church...it is precisely the sort of hypocrisy that Kerry (pro-life in the Church/pro-abortion in public) exhibits that needs to be addressed by swift and sure excommunication of those not willing to obey the laws, especially those in political leadership positions.  I urget you to read some of the writings of Cardinal Ratzinger (the Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith) on this issue...
