Famous People
Have you ever met any famous people?
You may have remembered my thread about the no bands in my school's talent show.. Well, we had the talent show tonight and it rocked out. VH1 and MTV were there, as well as Dee Snider of Twisted Sister. Here's a pic i took. The too kids on the sides of him were playing the guitars. They sang, "We're Not Gonna Take It."

Re: Famous People
We had Evander Holyfield come to speak in chapel at my school. I got to shake his hand.
John Kitna came too, but he's not famous anymore, cause it's all Carson Palmer now for the Bengals. Kitna was weird though, he claimed that Marvin Lewis sat him on the bench not because of his athletic ability, but because he was a Christian. I can't see how that could be true, but whatever.
And I dated a girl whose dad is the news anchor for the #1 Channel in Cincinnati

I met Stephen Sondheim once, at a fundraiser for Kerry. He talked about his music and told me what his six favorite songs to write were.

Re: Famous People
Dave Brubeck and his son Dan (took/take drum lessons with the latter).
The guy who wrote the theme song for the TV show "Dallas" and his wife, who wrote the screen play to "First do no harm" (among others) - friends of the family.
No one really famous I suppose (in the pop-culture way)...
I have been asked to remove my infamous Avatar by a moderator, and I shall reluctantly comply.
Rest in peace, my friend.

Re: Famous People
I met Ethan Phillips and Robert Picardo @ a Star Trek convention two years ago, very funny guys.
A ways back (read: 7+ years) I went to a lecture by Jimmy Dohan about World War II at what is now my college. Really nice guy.
I met Steve Wozniak last year when he came to Rochester. No matter how many times you hear the stories, they're still good.

Strata, Everclear, Terry Brooks, my former governer, Robert Jordan. I saw Steve Jobs once, but didn't get to talk to him. Let me think for a while and I'll figure out who I'm missing.

peach, thats awesome that you met tsunami bomb. they're a pretty good band. And weezer too
As for me, Delbert Mcclinton is a very good family friend. His daughter is one of my sisters best friends.
Ron Artess came to our basketball practice the other day. He was a very nice guy, and did not rush the stands and beat me up. Actually he took me and four of my teammates through a ron artess workout. It was really hard.

George Michael, Charles Barkley, Travis Pastrana (multiple times), Ricky Carmichael, Josh Hansen (Awesome guy), Grant Langston, and probably some more. Most of those guys are from Motocross because I used to ride all over like at Loretta Lynn's and Mini O's in Florida and friends of mine knew all of these guys....ahh, good times....

Re: Famous People
I saw steve jobs roll up to the car wash in his twin turbo when I was five and didn't know who he was. Then I met John Farely (a weather guy in Silicon Valley for NBC) a few weeks ago on a tour of their new studio. I haven't really met any other important people. I wish I had. But I didn't.

You must be speaking of NBC 11 (
). If they hadn't stolen the NBC syndication from KRON a few years ago, I would have been on NBC news... twice, once in 8th grade and then this year in 10th. But Noooooo... just that crappy KRON news. Sigh.
Oh yeah, and I met Johnny Mosley when I was in middle school. He just randomly showed up in the year after he won his medals in Nagano at my little independant SF grade school. I have absoltley no Idea how he decided to come to my school, but it was cool, and I actually carried on a rather lengthy conversation with him (lenghty for a star struck kid). I remember that he swore a few times in a speech for the whole school (kindergardeners too), and the Principal ackwardly laughed it off.

Not exactly...she actually stopped by to say 'hi' to everyone because she was coming back from a tour or taking a break or something. It was pretty cool because it's really rare that she ever stops by at that time of the year (Early August). So sorta, kinda, not exactly....

Re: Famous People
I just met Bob Weston (bass player the band shellac) two weeks ago. Saw him in Logans Square, Chicago while I was test riding my new bike (this is it). I was with my brother John and his friend Jay. We had just gotten back from the Shellac all ages show and I was hot to buy a fixed gear bike. Jay made the concert poster for them, so we had a short talk. Bob ended up taking my (now) bike for a test spin. I guess that he didn't like the fixed gear experience too much, but cool to talk to a guy you just payed to see play live and have a normal conversation with him.

Oh yeah, the Harlem Globetrotters came and practiced in my High School gym last year.
Which happens to be the same high school that Senator (congresswoman?) Elizabeth Dole went to school. In fact, the house she lived in is just down the street from me.
