Java Programming Using DevTools

I'm taking a OOD programming class and we're using Java. "Woohoo!" I think to myself, "I'll be able to do this stuff at home with Dev Tools while the rest of these poor sods have to drive to campus and hope the lab's open." Alas, it was not this way. For some reason, even though I've parsed my code and it's all correct, it still doesn't run. This would be only a little bad if it didn't cost me a project.

Basically, we're going to be making smallish Java Applets from now on. How do I do this using Dev Tools, and how is it different from JBuilder 7, which is what we use in the labs.
