Antivirus
Any suggestions for a good commercial antivirus ? I've heard of real time scanning, is that standard or do only a few have that ? AVG, Norton, Viruskeeper, Mcafee ? I have AVG free edition at the moment, but that one seems a little weak
Thanks

Re: Antivirus
Many knowledgeable folks give AVG high marks.
I deleted the other topic for you.

Heh, if you don't have something constructive to add, then don't post

Personally, I use AVG on all the computers I own, and I've never had a problem. The discount they give to churches is nice too. Which is why I installed AVG for them.
Not only that, but Norton just plain sucks. Installation is a pain, and uninstallation is an even bigger pain. I've uninstalled it, and you can't reinstall it until you wipe Windows, in my experience. So I avoid Norton like the plague.
Also, free++; for AVG.

Re: Antivirus
i'm using mcafee and it's been ok... i've had no problems with it. i chose the anti virus solution that had the longest free trial (CA had a longer trial, but the installer kept crashing so i said smurf that).

Re: Antivirus
I am a Symantec fan, I am staying away from McAfee. My old place of business runs McAfee, and it completely missed the Melissa virus (you know, that god aweful mass e-mail spamming whore of a virus), even after the DAT file updates. I did actually find out where the voirus came into the network, who's machine it was and where he got the infected Word doc.
His wife sent him a shopping list from home on Word, which his machine was infected at home, passed through not only the e-mail AV (McAfee) but also at the client workstation level. This is a place with about 2,000 workers, all with e-mail, and our text pagers were all tied to Exchange. Let's just say I about threw that pager through a wall.
Took a few days of cleaning up (with Symantec) and I have been pushing them to try and get that ever since. They are still running McAfee.
(Yes, it still missed things, even today).
