10.3.9 Problems.
10.3.9 may cause a problem with Norton's and Safari.
Problem with Norton's LiveUpDate will not work.
Problems with Safari: You can not enter some websites such as Chessville.com.
Safari just crashes.
Another problem: Symantec gave out the wrong information on the solution.
I first discovered the problem when Safari started to crash.
Then I noticed LiveUpDate was not on.
A message appears that some pieces are missing from LiveUpDate.
The following are the steps to solve the problem:
I just ran the Apple Java upgrade, and the following steps are
Necessary to get Norton's functional. Symantec is giving the wrong
Instructions.
1. Go to http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/a … x1039.html
And download.
2. Install the product.
3. No need to restart.
4. Install the Norton's DVD.
5. Reinstall Systemworks.
6. CUSTOMIZE LIVEUPDATE only.
7. LIVEUPDATE should run and upgrade the product.
8. Remove the DVD.
If Live Up Date does not work then go to USER, Library, Receipt, and search for a product called BSD. If BSD is not installed then install it from the Apple DVD.
Note: Norton's is indicating to install Java 1.4.2 an old product from 2004.
Apple is aware of the problem and so indicated on the website.
