iChat video looks WORSE in Tiger
My wife and I just tried our first Tiger iChat videochat. The picture quality is noticeably worse than it was in Panther. Wasn't the quality supposed to improve??

I haven't seen it yet, so I can't say.
What would you do if I sang out of tune? Would you laugh and then beat me to a pulp?

How does one respond to a post like this?
What I saw looked worse that the picture quality in Panther. My wife agreed. Fact or not, we agreed the picture quality was noticeably worse.

Hi,
I have the same experience. I video chat regularly with my folks, and now with Tiger the video quality is noticeably worste. I.e. definitely blurrier!
Can I go back to the old version of ichat?

Well,
I have an iMac G4 with 512MB of RAM and my folks have an iMac G5 also with 512MB of Ram. Shouldn' this be enough. It was enough to run iChat video on Panther quite well.
Should I go back to Panther?

Try this...start a 3 person video chat then have one of the "guests" quit. You'll be amazed at how sharp a picture the host gets. I have yet to figure out why this is the case. My best guess so far is that there is something on Tiger iChat that is limiting the bandwidth usage to less than what's possible given your computer and your ISP.
