With the inpending Leaperd coming in 2006-2007, What do you think will happen to OS9.

Re: So What will happen to OS9
Since Rosetta won't run Classic apps, I'd say there isn't much choice in letting it go.
Tiger Server, not so bad now. Automator, however, still sucks.

Re: So What will happen to OS9
I doubt it will even have classic emulation for the PPC version, since it won't be available for the Intel version. Classic has been dead for many years now, anyway.

Good Lord man......let it go.

Its dead. It has been.
I don't run any classic apps anymore, and my parents only run one that they wouldn't mind replacing.

I only run 1 OS 9 app and I think there is a java port of it but I hear it sucks so I haven't looked into it.

I haven't had Classic support installed since I upgraded to Panther.

Re: So What will happen to OS9
I still use classic...it costs a lot of money to upgrade all your software for every change Apple goes through. I am glad I held off on upgrading them now, since I would have to upgrade them for Intel ports anyway. I know your not supposed to have to, but Rosetta didn't exactly look quick to me...I am betting people will be upgrading as fast as they can for bigger apps.

I have only one program that needs Classic, but I think Leopard will kill it. Oh well, Basilisk (sp) awaits)

Pfft...Classic didn't even come on my G5, and I didn't bother to install it.
Also removed it from my Dual 867 G4.
The old G4/400 is the only one with it, but it never gets used.

Re: So What will happen to OS9
It will die. Many people will demand companies of older software to make Mac OS X versions. They will refuse, and all the Maxis games won't run on Intel-based Macs. :sob:

Re: So What will happen to OS9
will rosetta be able to run classic?
i cant imagine it running fast enough for games, but it would be good for business who depend on a piece of software whose developers have gone out of business.
