Need IRC client advice

I am looking for a decent IRC client *that will not disconnect me if I am idle for a while.* I have tried Snak, but it's the worst for that; otherwise I love it. I took a ten-second look at ircle and decided I didn't want all those pesky windows or the learning curve. (Not that I haven't used irssi before and couldn't learn ircle. I just don't want to. There's a *reason* I went Mac.) I tried Minerva and it was just not ready for prime time; two of the tree sections of the preferences simply didn't work. I gave x-chat Aqua a quick trial run and it didn't do Freenode as installed and I didn't bother to see if I could add it. I have tried Colloquoy, but it does the disconnect thing, too, just not as fast as Snak seems to.

Does anyone have any advice as far as an IRC client that might do what I want? I'm not big on bells and whistles, although I do like being able to have more than one channel in use at a time, and I do need ops options available.

Re: Need IRC client advice

All you need to know about irc is Ircle

Or you can check out the first few pages of the chat thread in Unplugged.

Every client I've tried lets you turn off the auto-disconnect.

Re: Need IRC client advice

Unless things have changed since I registered the program back when Mac OS 8.6 was current, after the initial evaluation period, Snak will only stay connected for 30 minutes until you register.
