Microsoft offers tabbed browsing in IE 6
'Microsoft offers tabbed browsing--in IE 6
Published: June 8, 2005, 5:07 PM PDT

Staff Writer, CNET News.com
Weeks after promising tabs in its upcoming IE 7 release, Microsoft made the long-awaited browsing feature available for IE 6 through its MSN toolbar.
With the version of MSN Search Toolbar made available Wednesday, IE 6 gains the ability to open numerous Web pages within a single window, each selectable by a small tab at the top of the window.
The feature--long offered by IE competitors like Opera, Safari and Firefox, and by browser shells built to run on top of IE--is one of many that Web surfers have said they missed in the aging IE 6.'

That does mean you have to install MSN Search Toolbar to get tabs.

That's news?
Nothing's bulletproof, including FF.

Yeah, this article was NOT something my boss needed to see. He's a huge IE fanboy, to the point that he doesn't really trust my FF installation on my office computer, yet we offer Nutscrape as a supported alternative to IE (the Netscape.com homepage loads adware onto your computer, or at least code that SpyBot comes up and warns about).

Anything posted here gets forwarded to your bosses?
It's news... me, I still plan to switch to FF, but with time tight it won't be tonight or tomorrow.

It only took me about three minutes, but then I'm not big on bookmarks.

Re: Microsoft offers tabbed browsing in IE 6
Personally, after using the adblock plugin for FF, I switched and never looked back. You do not know how simple and effective this plugin is. Right-clock, Block Ad, and it's gone forever (unless the url of the ads change). Because it uses URL blocking it even works on those annoying flash videos, and even on scripts that make popups. So yeah, neve going back to IE.

I've used FF for a couple years now and would never go back. It's not perfect, but
IE is a total pile, and I will never use it again. I don't care what Uncle Bill and his
skunkworks come up with.
