Re: Care to prove to me how the TV, and newspapers aen't a liberal rag?

""If I read this to you and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime - Pol Pot or others - that had no concern for human beings."

Hmmm.  Lets see.  Calling American soldiers Nazis?  Nope.  Calling Guantanamo a gulag?  Not that either.  Why is this a revolutionary statement?  Is pissing on prisoners something that usually makes you think of an American jaiL?

I'm not soapboxing, I'm asking a valid question... cause it seems other countries have this information well before we do.... you don't see a problem with that?

A problem with the fact that it was up on news sites in other countries a few hours earlier than it was here?  No, I don't see a "Problem." It's not indicative of policies here, just of the need for these news outlets to light a fire under their webmasters' asses.  I would very much like the news agencies in this country to shape up, drop their huge biases, and report news rather than opinion pieces.

But that's not what you asked.

"Care to prove to me how the TV, and newspapers aen't a liberal rag?" is quite a different question than the one you just asked me.

Nazis put people in *ovens*, gassed them to death, put them in pressure chambers and sucked the air out, cut featuses out of people without medication. So to answer your question, no, it doesnt sound like what was done by nazis and probably happens in american jails all the time (depending on what the senator was refering too)

That doesnt make it right, but its not on the level of nazis.

Durbin didn't only say Nazi, he said "OR some mad regime". It's pretty clear that he was using hyperbole to make a point, something not lost on most politicians. If he had left out the word "Nazi" in his statement, would people care? No, because then it wouldn't be marketable. The only reason CP cares about this is because of the stigma associated with "Nazi" (which is justified), it's easy to spin. It's not about truth in the media or reporting, or even liberal/conservative bias.

Which can be used to be twisted in any way possible to make it look like the US soldiers are the new Nazi party...

Just like any good news title on a news paper... the title of a topic isn't always directly correlated with the subject of the story.

What are you talking about? Do you mean that report Dubin was reading from? If that's the case, then our intelligence services are in worse shape than they are letting on.
